Saved the best for last. I've been out of the Game for a while and decided to liquidate some stuff collected over the years. Age and hard living done me in. I know what I have, I just don't know the value of it anymore, the market has changed so much over the past ten years. I want to put these up for sale but haven't a clue as to the asking price Please abstain from stupid comments as all I'm asking for is honest opinions and offers.

This is a CVA .50 mountain rifle with the douglas barrel. Yes, it has "Made in USA" on it, along with the four screw patch box. It is in very fine condition as the pictures illustrate. I don't know what they're running anymore so will entertain any reasonable offers.

They may have sold for about $400, but I don't know its condition. I would give this one at least a 97%.. This is probably the best sidelock CVA ever made and are scarce as hens teeth. The very least I would take for it is $535, or better. Consider this like an auction with a reserve of $535. I'll close it at 7pm EDT tonight and whoevers first, or highest gets it. Buyer pays actual shipping, I pay for insurance and signature required.

About 25 years ago I bought an unfired US made Mt. Rifle at the gun show in Houston. I had been shooting one I built from a kit 15 years previously and loved the accuracy. I figured, at the time, it was a good deal to have a backup for when I shot the barrel out of my kit version. It still sits in the safe, unfired, after all these years. My old one, after 60-70 pounds of powder shot through it over the years, still shoots no worse than a 2-3 inch group at 50 with my 70yo eyes. They were good shooters. Good luck with your sale! Someone will get a fine shooter.

I was fortunate enough to buy one at a gun shop for $80.00. Didnt realize how hard they are to come by. I just saw a good deal and snatched it up. Glad I did now.

Are all of those photos of the same rifle? Photo #2 shows the later, cylindrical ramrod pipes, while photo #3 shows the earlier octagonal ones. I'm not questioning the representation of the rifle which is up for sale. It looks like a beauty, at what I would consider a fair price. I was just wondering if an image of another rifle somehow got mixed in with the group.

Yea, somehow the picture of the CVA Bigbore 58 which I am also selling got mixed in. I can't find a way to edit it out though.

Thanks for the explanation!

Those CVA Mountain Rifles are good guns, and your .50 appears to be in really good shape. The Big Bores are a lot less common, and harder to find. Do yo have that one listed on this forum, also?

I did, but it didn't last long; it's shipping out today to Colorado. I'm culling my BP pieces and selling all that aren't custom made. Had spinal surgery last Monday and I'm more interested in learning to walk again. Selling off a bunch of my cartridge guns too. I guess I'm re-prioritizing my life,,,,,, as silly as that sounds.

Which, by order of number, of the photos goes with the 50cal.?
This is the only picture that didn't belong here - it goes to the big bore 58 I sold here last week. It's still in the white while this CVA Mountain rifle is plumb brown.

Just wondering if the lock is marked on the back with a number that would also be found written on the stock in the barrel channel. I picked up a CVA Mountain rifle last year and it was marked that way with what probably is an assembly number. Your's is in nicer shape than mine.
