I have three 50 cal cap locks
Total Barrel lengths
35” long rifle one in 48” twist
17” pistol one in18” twist
10” pistol one in 24” twist
I use a 49 cal ball and 015 patch 70 grain 2F Paradex with the long rifle. It is wicked accurate with a peep. I think this is the optimal combination or close to it
With the 10 inch Kentucky pistol I also use the 49 ball 015 patch. At 20 to 30 grains the groups are kinda OK at 25 yds if I take the charge up to 40 or 50 grains, the groups start to spread
The 17” Bounty, I have not discharged it yet, but with it’s tighter twist rate, I am thinking she might love a conical bullet.
I am more interested in accuracy than knock down power. Any thoughts appreciated. I am a newbie but I love the mix and match quality of muzzleloading
