Oh and yes, I agree with getting a smaller toorie when possible. Do you have a 42nd button on the cockade?

Yes, you can get away with more "styling" as an Officer.

One Lady in our UnCivil War group made really excellent copies of Virginia Secession Ribbons for us. These look like a cockade on top with a VA button in them and a couple ribbon "tails" that hang down. It sort of got in the way on my chest, so I wore it on the left side of my Kepi like a Cockade. Wasn't sure how it would look, but I got a lot of compliments from the Ladies on it right away, so it stayed on my Officer's Kepi.

I don't have a 42nd button on the cockade yet but it will probably be in the works. I just haven't quite found evidence yet of when exactly the numbered buttons started, that's why I just went with plain buttons on the regimental. But I think a numbered button on the cockade would look good!

Did a test fit of most of the top half of the uniform (Yes I have the baldric on very loose in the photo). The Officer's sash I ordered was apparently made for a monster of a man and is far to big so I'll have to find a different one. It's big enough to go diagonally across my torso two or three times. 😂

Well here are a few pictures wearing nearly all the kit. I'm still sorting out the great kilt as it seems to very not quite wide enough, so in these pictures I am just wearing the Stewart hunting tartan.

@BJamesBeck, will you be coming to the Fall Rendezvous at Fort de Chartres on November 6 and 7. I will be camping with the 42nd Highlanders.

Your uniform is certainly coming together.

Sadly I don't think I'm going to be able to make it to that one. I really wish I was able to. When is the next Fort DeChartres event after this weekend? Spring?

The next event is the April Trade Fair, a juried event. Spectators can come, but can't show up in period attire. Next would be the June Rendezvous.
Damn. That's a long wait. I sure wish I could make it this weekend, I just don't think I can swing it.
