Will a .319 ball work in a uberti Wells Fargo baby dragoon .31 cal revolver? Thanks rawhide

Those should work. Just check bore/cylinder size. I know the org 1849 would use a .319 ball

An old Dixie Gun Works catalog says the Uberti 1848 Wells Fargo and their 1849 Pocket Revolver have .319 diameter chambers in the cylinder.
Likewise, it says the Palmetto 1849 Pocket model Colt has .319 diameter chambers.

If their information is right, using a .319 diameter ball would be a "push fit" where the ball could be inserted into the chamber with just finger pressure.

This would allow the balls in the non-firing chambers to exit the chambers when the gun fires because there is no interference holding them in place.

This is why it is a good idea to use balls that are at least .002 (two thousandths) of an inch larger than the chambers so there is some compressive force
holding the balls in place.

As a side note, Dixie's catalog says the Remington Pocket pistol chambers are .315 in diameter. The .319 balls would work fine in the Remington pistol.
