This is a really nice 28Ga (.54cal) flintlock shotgun built by Charles Birkham (1929-2001) of Luzerne N.Y. I am given to understand that Mr Birkham was an engineer by vocation and a prolific muzzle loading gunmaker by avocation. He specialized in goldenage carved & engraved longrifles and English pattern shotguns and sporting rifles. I purchased this shotgun and an English sporting rifle from his son's estate.
This shotgun only weighs 4&3/4lbs the length of pull is 13&1/2in it has a tapered round 30in barrel and a 3in drop at the heel. All of the furniture is steel including the sideplate and is polished, case hardened and lightly engraved. The lock is completely handmade and is a jewel that would make an English gunmaker jealous it is fast has perfect geometry and throws a nice shower of sparks. The plate and hammer are case hardened with light colors that don't show well in the photos they are lightly engraved and the makers name C. Birkham is present on the plate. The touch hole is bushed. The bore is pristine. While this is a simple piece the quality of workmanship is way up there.
I am asking $740 which includes shipping anywhere in the CONUS it is legal to ship to.

I should have put it in the listing. I prefer postal money order but personal checks are OK with a couple of days to clear.
