Nice looking gun but curious about your intended load in a .20 caliber gun. Being a big smaller that a 22RF it seems about the minimum for a rat hunt, but definitely will leave you under gunned when hunting turkey. Unless maybe there was a typo and you are talking about a 20 gauge or .62” caliber.

Sure looks like a 20 gauge to me, typo or no typo.

That sure is a beautiful gun. I agree hanshi, it needs no apology. I killed my last 7 Spring gobblers with a 20ga. smoothbore flintlock that I built, but it sure does not look that good.

jtkerk, I use 70 grains of ffg powder, over powder wad, cushion wad, 1 1/8oz. of #6 lead shot, over shot card. Pretty much a standard load. I did have my 36 inch Colrain barrel jug choked by Lowell Tennyson. My patterns out of this barrel, with the above load are under 20 inches at 30 yards. This is very lethal on turkey and any other small game at this distance. The gun I assembled is a Carolina trade gun from a Clay Smith kit. Mr. Tennyson jug choked it to extra full since I wanted it primarily for turkey. It is also great for hunting phesants and squirrels. I have a Mountain Feist squirrel dog and use this gun when hunting with her. I found out I miss too many when using my .36 cal. At 70 years old I don't shoot as good as I use to.
