I might get this figured out I'll keep trying.

The image is only 75 X 75 pixels wide. That's why it's so small.

Before you save your photo to the photo hosting site, make sure it is somewhere between 500 and 850 pixels wide.

Thanks! I welded this up about 6-7 years ago. Bowling ball of course, 3 oz. cannon grade. 209 primer ignition.

We want to see it in action, please.

BTW, you should see a skin-care specialist about that green rash on the face.

We don't care how ugly you are, if you are a black powder shooter then you are one of us - no matter if you have a fizzog that would stop a clock.

I do wonder about the disappearance of the picture.

The mortar looked interesting and fairly "correct" and it would be nice to know more about it.

(As a sidenote, when a picture is posted on the forum, if the picture is later moved or changed on the photo site that was linked to the post, it will cause the picture in the message to vanish.

Folks: When you post a picture on the forum, please do not move it to some other album or folder at the Photo Web Site (like Flicker or Photobucket).

That's not me in the pic. I'll get some more pictures in a day or two. I built it as close to original dimentions as material avialiable would allow. Used plans book from Dixie G.W.

Holy manure! Thats a big cannon(mortar)....not sure though why you scratched out your face....if it was for anonymity purposes maybe you should do the same with the address! Excellent job and would like to see it in action too!

Thank you everyone it's a 1861 type 2 8" siege mortar replica built by me according to drawings from Dixie Gunworks. It's had around 75-100 rounds fired, 3oz cannon grade, military grade bowling ball 209 primer ignition. Soon as I shoot again I'll take action pics. D.C.

I don't suppose that you (or any readers) happen to know where I could find a suitable set of plans for a full-size 3 or 4 pound field piece that's suitable for the 1830s, do you??
(Yep, for the TEXAS Revolution)

The plans that I so far located for the smaller field-pieces look like plans to make TOY cannon.

yours, satx
