I have a very old Uberti version. It was made in 1959 I think. At least that was what the folks at Navy Arms told me. The revolver is one of my favorites.

that was my budget buster for this year. if I wanted white grips i'd have to go with the off white latex paint.
Find yourself an old ivory plastic toilet seat (the thick solid kind) and cut out a pair of grips. They will look as good as factory faux ivory grips. Especially if you leave the brown stains that indicate age in both ivory and toilet seats.

I think of all open top revolvers the 51 Navy is my favorite as far as looks goes and I still don't own one, go figure!
I did have a chance at picking up a nice 2nd Gen Colt 62 yesterday at a gun show and passed on it for$300.00. Already have one fixed up the way I want but think that was a good price for the 62.

first open top .44 revolver I ever owned was back in 1979. I think all it cost was $79. it was a real pos. every 3 round the loading lever fell down. had to use a rubber band to holed it up. the reason I gave it away was if your target wasn't as large as a barn door you weren't hitting anything.
on that old silver model I was wondering how good it would look with the engraved naval battle scene blackened in the grooves.
