Where the button end attaches to the ram rod I keep getting a narrow band of recurring dark corrosion. Could be from acid flux when it was soldered together by Pedersoli?

Pardon, the thread title should say 1816, the musket not the flintlock pistol.

I upgraded to the made in USA rod for the 1816 , as sold by Lodgewood. It feels more well made , and fits just a bit looser in the channel but not too loose. It has the correct taper toward the button head.

The Pedersoli supplied rod was made of soft steel and I had to wrestle it out of the musket to withdraw it.
