Hi everyone my impression is of a 1630s Spanish colonist by the name of Carlos Chicos de Santa Fe a criollo living in Santa Fe at this time and regularly travels to the Pecos Pueblo for the yearly rendezvous with the Apache. I'm a trader and guard for the trade goods that will be traded with the Apaches. Been studying this time period and area for well over a year now and have been slowly adding more and more to the impression.

Nice! Where did you source your matchlock and bandolier? For the persona, are you planning on adding a sword?
The bandolier I ordered from a shop in Spain call Trajes Medievales and had shipped to the States. (I lived in Spain hence the impression). The matchlock is a military heritage I ordered and so far its been fun to shoot. I'm thinking about adding a sword right now I got a reproduction short sword that I'm going to start carrying. Ideally, a rapier would've been what my persona would've wanted to carry but since New Mexico only received supple shipments every three years I opted for a cheaper short sword since my persona wasn't a wealthy man or a soldier sent by the Crown so what he had was what he could afford. That being said I think someday I'd like a Rapier since it was a popular civilian sword of the time as well as I took Spanish Rapier fencing while I lived in Spain.

That’s really cool you have a personal connection! I love Sante Fe, and also early modern/renaissance military history lol.

Little talked about is the Santa Fe Trail was blazed by Coronado in the 16th century. And used intermittently by the Spanish while they ruled Louisiana (needed a trail to San Louis).
Then it would later become an American trail in 1821.
I like to do some Santa Fe trail stuff, it’s fun to see a guy from the opposite side and opposite time👍

Neat impression! I'm hoping to someday put together a 1560s Juan Pardo expedition impression. Your post has renewed inspiration for me to work on that!
The explorer or the Spanish singer? Not many people know of either one.

Haha, the explorer for sure! Maybe I'll learn to sing in 16th c. Spanish, but getting an arquebus and kit will be the priority. The expedition passed withing 25 miles of where I live here in NC, and stayed awhile where what's now unfortunately the bottom of High Rock Lake.

I recently sold s Spanish rapier made in Toledo by a good friend of mine (since passed) Oscar Kolombatavich, fencing master at the Met and father of George Kolombatavich, fencing master hall of famer and also fencing master at the Met
