Another cool period-piece is 1612.

This movie is a 2007 Russian historical fantasy film about the 17th century Time of Troubles and the Polish”“Muscovite War with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. After the brutal slaughter of Tsar Boris Godunov and his family, Russia descends into chaos. Guided by faith and mysticism, Andrey, the only witness to the massacre, transforms himself from servant to cavalier and sets off on a quest to save Princess Ksenia, the missing daughter of Godunov. Andrey joins forces with Prince Pozharski, the people’s army leader, and faces down the Polish army in an explosive, blood-soaked battle for Moscow.

The movie is one third history, one third drama, one third action-adventure with a little comedy sprinkled on top and it all comes out pretty darn good.

This movie was commissioned by The Kremlin and cost $12 Million to make almost a decade ago. It too is replete with nice guns and sharp pointy things in energetic fight and battle scenes. The acting is quite good also and there is definitely some memorable cinematography. It's worth the time to watch.

My copy is in Russian with English subtitles -- I presume any Region 1 DVD will be.
