Here's my new toy for this period: mid-1600s "English Lock" musket; .75 cal 46" Colerain bbl, Leonard Day lock.

Carp, that's just lovely. I bet a musket very much like it might have seen action in King Philip's War.
Is Mr. Day still building locks and firearms?

I actually had the musket built for me to portray New England militia in King Philip's War! It is a Day lock, though Kevin Dougherty of Brackney, PA, is the actual builder of this piece. I believe Leonard's son does most of the work these days....

Great looking gun!!! I really like these. Have one myself, except with the fishtail butt stock. Much fun to shoot these early guns. Congrats.

I tell ya carp, there is not a finer man than him . That I would entrust to build me a gun. Ive had several "economy builders" build me a gun. And he is by far the most talented. plus i only have to drive an hour and I can see my babies being born lol

Carp, if you ever had a notion to share photos of yourself in full King Philip's War militia kit, I would be much obliged.

Been meaning to do that soon... get some pics taken, I mean. My KPW kit is new and only recently assembled....
