Anyone Experienced with Hardening a Frizzen?

Long time reader, first time poster here. So I've got a frizzen here that I can't seem to get any life out of. I've got several other flintlocks, and managed to get those to shoot flames after a little bit of trial and error. This is the first one I've gotten where I can't seem to get anything...

Best barrel twist for .54 Caliber

Was wondering what's the best barrel twist for both Round Balls and Conical? I'm starting to save up to have a ancestral rifle recreated after it burned in a fire a few years back. It originally only fired RB but apparently it's barrel was changed to a different twist rate that let it fire both...

    2 for 1

It seems I have mistakenly loaded 2 .457 balls in one chamber on my Uberti Colt Walker. Both are sitting on 42-48 grains of Pyrodex 3F Is it okay to fire it this way or am I breaking her down and attempting to extract the powder and both of my lead friends?

    Help identifying 1863 springfield marking

I've been trying to research and find out why someone would put these gold metal dots on an old 1863 springfield musket. So far I can't seem to find any information on it, so I thought I would try here and see if anyone knows why someone would have done that.

Anyone have the dimentions of the bayonet lug for a french 1859 musket?

Attempting to de-sporter a French 1859 musket I got for fairly cheap. Missing sights and bayonet lug. Figured I could use enfield sights since they look similar, not really any thing else new I could use. For the bayonet lug I couldn't find anything and was thinking I could have a new one made...

So I recently finished building my Pedersoli Pennsylvania rifle kit. I am trying to install the sights but they don't seem to fit. The front sight is really really tight, and after trying to give it a few taps with a wooden mallet to get it into place it didn't even start to enter the dovetail...
