    Pa.Flinty only season?

You get more use out of your hunting license if you miss a couple before you shoot one.

    Some mighty fancy shootin'

There's no doubt my fascination with longrifles stems back to those Disney movies I watched as a kid.

PA Flintlock season December 27, 2021

I love this late season. Have been out every evening and not seen another hunter yet. The regulations now, are a big improvement from the days of only one deer tag. If you took a buck then, you couldn't hunt in the flintlock season.

    PA flintlock season?

Because of the drizzling rain, I hunted my stand with a roof this afternoon, overlooking two fields. Saw several deer, but all over 100 yds. Just before 5:00 two popped out at 77 yds, (according to my range finder). Decided not to shoot. Feel certain I'll see something closer before the season...

There's no doubt that my fascination with Kentucky rifles stems back to ole Davy and those Disney movies

How Long Have You Been Hunting ...

56 years and I still get excited when I see antlers on a deer.

Neither rain, nor snow, nor blah blah.

I'm not sure if this happens everywhere, but our local Post Office closes the doors for lunch every day from 11:00 to noon. I don't know of any other business that does that.

    Button buck

Congratulations. Beautiful long and sleek looking Lehigh rifle!

    Stand hunting

The first half of my hunting life I still hunted or participated in small drives. Eventually though, I gained some patience and learned I get much better shooting if I just park myself in a good spot and let the deer come to me.

    Pennsylvania flintlock season soon!

I have stands hung on four properties I'm allowed to hunt here in Perry County . Sure hope the snow goes with the rain tomorrow. Hate to think of having to crunch around on the ice next week. Best of luck to everyone.

    GAME WARDENS

In over50 years of hunting I've only had one unpleasant experience with a Warden. Back in '85 during the regular firearms Doe season, four of us were hunting the side of a long ridge on State Forest lands. Two would get out, climb the side to drive while the other two would move the vehicles...

    Last day Pa.Doe

The rifle was built by Allen Martin, inspired by an original, signed Michael Aldenderfer 1810. It was part of a display of Berks County rifles held at the Berks County Historical Society in 2009- 2010. It's a .50 caliber with a Getz 44 inch octagon to round barrel. Weighs less than 7 lbs. The...

    Last day Pa.Doe

Bear with me, first time I posted a photo. Daylight of the last day found me in a ladder stand in a fencerow along a soybean field, looking to fill my doe tag. The stand was back in the fencerow against a large white pine. I had only trimmed enough branches from 10 o-clock to 2 to create a...

`First buck with ML in a long time

Congratulations! That has to feel extra good to take a buck like that with a smoke pole.

    Drats foiled again

Even when we know better, we sometimes have to refresh our memory the hard way. Better luck next time!

    Front sights?

I prefer brass. For my eyes, it shows up very well in the low light conditions often encountered while hunting.

Who else polishes their brass over the winter?

The only brass I polish is the front sight. Makes them easier to see in low light hunting conditions.
