    I also have an Austin Halleck mountain rifle. Mine is a .50 calibre flintlock. It was my first flintlock and it got me hooked. Very nice rifle that seems a notch above most production rifles.

    Sounds like a Merry Christmas :hatsoff: Recently got one myself and like you I don't know much about them. Mine has only mowrey, .54 and the serial number stamped on it. I am told this is likely one of the lesser desirable models however my serial number is significantly less than one...

    You can start lower with a spotter and walk em into the target......that's what I'm going to do if I have time to do it.

    That is a shame. I spent the first 42 years of my life Western Canada and have been on quite a few moose hunts. Although I have never taken one with a muzzle loader I think your rifle would have been ideal.

    Express rifle

    Always had a hankerin to own a double barrel "express" percussion rifle. Do any of you gurus have experience with these? I seem to recall Kodiaks?.....and CVA's?.......or were they CVA Kodiaks? I figure one of these might be fun to take on a pig hunt.....although I may need a gun bearer :hmm:
