    frustrated pistol shooter!

Well, here's my two cents. There have been some good suggestions. My first one is to find a good BP Kentucky or single shot BP pistol shooter at your club or range and ask him/her to try a few shots. If that isn't an option, try 20 grains of FFF, a .015 patch and a .530 ball at 10 yards (if...

    Pietta NM Remington 'Shooter's Model'

It appears that Pedersoli isn't selling the Rogers & Spence model at this time. An email inquiry to Pedersoli in Italy indicated that they were planning on making them in the foreseeable future. I guess they have plenty of business with just the Remington Model. You will see them, as well as...

    My "new" pair of cva's

That right there is the reason a lot of us go to 'the gun shows'. You just never know what's going to be there. You done exceptionally well. The CVA Mountain rifle is as good as if not better than most of the current crop of cap busters. The Hawken is a rifle that doesn't seem to...

    Traditional muzzleloading on the wane?

I read this forum daily and I'm in the 'No Paypal' camp. When the pay by check option becomes available, my check will be in the mail.

    pietta revolver =shooters revolver

I concur on the Shooter's Model being the top of the line revolver. Very popular with the Friendship shooters. Accuracy is superb. It's interesting to note that not all the Shooter's Models sport a silver trigger guard; my 2002 model from Dixie Gun Works has a brass trigger guard. When we...

    Pedersoli kuchenrurter or ROA???

I'm not sure of the availability of Pietta on your side of the pond but I'd recommend the Pietta "Shooter's Model" Remington 1858 Revolver. It's traditional and likely legal for BP matches there as is it is on the continent. It is a finely made target quality revolver.

    How is your cap supply?

The local Bass Pro has them occasionally, kinda like .22 rimfire these days. They aren't out but in locked up in the case with the primers. Take a number, hang around the required wait time and ask. Sometimes yes, CCI 11s, 11 Magnum and/or 10s. One never knows. But keep trying.

    corn meal?

I concur with the comments on handgun shooting at 50 yards, it can be a truly humbling experience. Having said that I tend now to shoot more at 50 yards in practice than 25 yards. Definitely start at 25 yards, keep em all in the black, then shoot at 50 yards and if you can keep 'em all in the...

Howdy, welcome to the camp. :hatsoff: I think you'll find quite a few Mizzura shooters here.

How often do you all go shoot'in?

Try to average out every week; muzzleloading when weather permits, spring, summer, fall.

my new pistols showed up today (sorry no pics)

That's correct Zonie, I did assume the shooter was using a paper target NOT on a plywood backer but a conventional cardboard backer. I should not have made that assumption.

my new pistols showed up today (sorry no pics)

Well, it doesn't take a lot of velocity to punch a hole in a paper target. I have upped the charge to 20 grains when shooting at the 50 yard line targets. I'll be testing 17,5 grains at the 50 yard line next time I'm at the range.

my new pistols showed up today (sorry no pics)

Congrats on your new pistols, I enjoy shooting mine. Shooting a pistol is a lot of fun and dose of frustration at times. I've found that I get better accuracy at 25 yards from lighter charges in my Patriot and CVA Kentucky, both of which are 45 caliber. I generally shoot 15 grains of FFF...

Real world accuracy from a CVA

Well, I let a co-worker and his 16 yo son shoot mine today. CVA Hawken. Son shot a vertical touching 10X, 10 & 9 three shot group. Dad all three touching in the 9 ring. Shot offhand at 25 yards. They are new to blackpowder but as you can see do know how to shoot. Still, it's a good indicator of...

    Kentucky Pistol accuracy

Well, everyone has their favorite loads, I've settled on 20 grains of FFF, pillowticking patch and a .440 ball. If you're CVA Kentucky is a caplock, like mine, I picked up some hard rubber dome washers from the hardware store. IRRC, 0 or 00 will fit the percussion nipple and allow for lots of...
