    Before you tap out the pin, grind the point of the punch or nail flat, otherwise the point will keep "jumping away" from the pin and enlarging the hole in the wood around the barrel pin. u

    When you get the hickory rod, soak it in kerosene for about 2wks or more, makes it more flexible.

    Just "re-knap" them, for another 30 shots, keep knapping them when they get dull, till they get "too short" to work!

    Yes, fiberglass will WEAR OUT the rifling at the muzzle, DO NOT USE A FIBERGLASS RAMROD PERIOD!

    What was your first Muzzleloader?

    My 1st gun was a Navy Arms ".58 cal. Buffalo Hunter" nice looking gun, but never could get any accuracy out of it! I ended up taking it back and exchanged it for a H & A ".45 cal. Heritage Model" great gun! Then WE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE "LOG CABIN SHOP""(we only live about 45 miles from it)...

    Shimming a hammer

    Or you could use a dremel w/small mounted cylinder style grinding stone and take some material out of the hammer where it is hitting the cap/nipple. Had to due the same on a rifle that my great grand nephew was building. NOT A BIG DEAL to gitten er done!

    Forgot to add I do use water, but it is EXTREMELY Hot mixed with liquid dish soap on a wet patch, then dry patch to remove any moisture. Then I let the heat in the steel from the hot soapy water patch sit to dry up a few minutes, NOW I use the wonder lube patch loaded with the lube. This is...
