    Jas Townsend & Son

Here's a big thumb's up to Jas Townsend & Son! I bought a few "smalls" last week (few leather pouches, clay pipe, hand forged turn screw). Great prices and I couldn't believe the fast turnaround and well done communications. I had my order in 2 days. These folks are a classy outfit...

    Penny Knife for Patches?

This one, also from Townsend, doesn't appear to have a nail nick. I might just have to get one of these for my bag too. https://www.townsends.us/collections/pocket-accessories/products/gentleman-s-pocket-knife

    Penny Knife for Patches?

If a hunter/farmer/anyone who used a flintlock in the last half of the 18th century were to be transported to the present and read this amazingly augmentative "discussion" about whatever knife he used to cut patches, I suspect he would be totally bumfuzzled at all the fuss. Again, this forum...

North Carolinians...step forward and be counted !

Has anyone ever used the Foothills Public Shooting Complex of Cleveland County? If so, is it muzzleloader and accessible friendly? What was your experience and impressions?

How much did Davy spend on his rifle?

I don't think he paid anything for it. Wasn't it gifted to him?.....I know there one in every bunch :)

    Screw Driver

I know the OP was asking about what screwdrivers/turn screws looked like but if you're wanting to get one, I found this little guy on Ebay a few years ago for just a couple of bucks. They are out there if you watch for them.

    looking for shooting bag

I might add that the other recent threads I mentioned above were quite critical (with some feeling very personal) of others' comments.

    looking for shooting bag

I didn't look at the date of the OP. And my comment was more a knee jerk reaction to some of other recent threads. The point that in my hast to type was obviously not well make is that when no clarification is needed why clarify? No offence was intended.

    looking for shooting bag

Totally agree. We don't need to nit pick. Besides, I don't hunt, therefore my bags are shooting bags.

    Historicly correct

I have been limiting my visits to this forum lately for exactly the same reason. I have learned that you can put certain people on ignore, which I have done, I just wish I knew a way to completely block out their posts. I have gotten to where I even dread seeing these folks' profile avatars at...

    looking for shooting bag

There are just about as many different bags out there as there are people carrying them. And there are a bunch of amazing folks, many of them on this forum making them so you don't have to settle for a ready made bag of ok, or in some cases, mediocre quality. If you can possibly stretch the...

I'm Still Shaking! Placed Order for Rifle

I've been reading this thread with interest and since my opinion was with some of the others who felt that it would be a non-issue, have resisted posting. But i will now say that I too feel your pain about having to pay for shipping. I bought a fowling piece from TOTW a few years back that...

    Sheath leather types and rust.

Oiling the leather is a great tip but I'll toss out another idea that you may want to use along with treating the leather.....I tend use paste wax on all my equipment, wood, metal, etc. A tub of Johnson's is cheap, will last forever and does a good job of protection.

    Using the patchbox...

You mean like this...... Some do open top to bottom. Just depends on the school/maker/style of rifle. As for use, I have found it useful to keep the cleaning jag for that particular gun in it's pathbox along with some patch material to keep it from rattling around.

Building a Late Flint English Rifle

Wow, that is going to be one really, really nice rifle. A have always admired the lines of the late English, half-stock flint rifles and it's clear you are perfectly capturing it....Mick C
