    Handgun build yourself kits

    Been thinking about building a muzzleload handgun. I would like it to be in .54 caliber. I have a percussion rifle in .54 but, I am thinking about going with a flintlock. I have on a scale of 1 to 10 in menchanical ability a 5. So that is my skill level. Any models to look at? Thanks for...

    Ohio late ML season

    Last year there was alot of ice and snow in Pike county. You had to kick them up to see any. Other years not so much of a problem. Joe

    I could have had a V-8

    You pull the trigger in as you pull back the hammer, when fully back you release the trigger and slowly allow the hammer to come forward until it catches. The same way you would cock a single action handgun. If you have never done this before try it out a few times with the gun unloaded. I...

    I could have had a V-8

    Took my Renegade deer hunting last week. During the fall, I have been shooting it at least once a week using .530 .18 patch and 80 grains of FFF. The first deer came in view at a range of ~40 yards, it dawned on me that I had been using my set trigger at the range. As quite as the woods were...

    venison jerky-how long will it keep?

    My is a Rescue swimmer on a SeaHawk he spent 6 months off the coast of East Africa on the USS Gettysburg. I sent him deer and beef jerky 4 or 5 times in care packages. For the jerky all I did was pack it in a brown paper bag and boxed it with the other goods. It took approx. 3 to 6 weeks for...

    water protecting of wood stock

    I just received a new Renagade stock from TC. Their service is just great. Back to my question, during deer gun in the past few seasons it has been wet. What would be best, to protect the new stock?

    best method to load powder

    Thank you all for answering my post on weighing powder. Now, I would like your brain trust to help me in the best way to load powder via powder horn, brass holder, pre-measure or a way that you have found that works great. This is for range and hunting use. If it makes any difference, I use...

    weighting in on volume

    My scales weight correctly as I have test weights. I do believe that my measure is incorrect, I have compared it with a friends measure. The good news, is that with a .535 ball and .15 patch it will shoot better then I can. I do love my GM barrel. I do wish to continue working with different...

    weighting in on volume

    I'm weighting the powder now in an effort to find the sweet load with my gun. I shot yesterday and found 80 grains weighted is dead nuts at 25 yards. That comes to 60 + with my brass volume measure. I'm just scooping it out of a bowl. When I am sure at what it likes, I will make a contraption...

    weighting in on volume

    While pre-loading some powder, I pulled out my trusty Lee scoopers. On the scale it said, 70 grains use size xx. Well,I weight them and they came darn close to 70 grains. Next I used my really cool brass powder measure. The kind that a little pole drops out of the middle with load marking...

    Gotta Love TC's Customer Service Dept

    The stock on my TC Rengade had a crack in it. Sent it to TC and they replaced it free of charge. They had made a change to the design of the stock, the new one had a rubber butt plate instead of the metal one that was on my rifle. With my cheap shoulders this was a good change.

    static spark

    Makes you wonder why folks spend all those bucks for brass drop tubes, when all you need is 2 feet of plastic tube and a 2x4. Joe

    static spark

    I like the cigar tin idea, plus you get to smoke the cigar. The tubes will work if you use the red top, though they are hard to pop open. When I hunt, I like to go light and as with my bow I never take more then 3 arrows so why would I take more then 3 shots worth of powder? Thanks for the...

    static spark

    I know BP uses metal containers not plastic due to the dangers of a static spark. Is there a polymer container the size of a test tube (100 grains) that can hold BP with out a danger of an setoff? If not, what can be used to preload 4 or 5 shots for hunting? Joe

    New GM 54 barrel

    I received my new GM 54 caliber this week for Christmas. Today was the only day I had to sight it in before muzzleload season, so it was an early gift. First 3 shoots at 25 yards were dead center a bit low. I then moved to the 50 yard range. I shoot a few getting the hang of it. Grouped way...
