Max Load for a 1858 New Model Army

You mean this; I'd rather have a Walker, the original "BFR" .

Tell him , he should understand. I would rather upset a friend, than be shot by a friend. Plus , he may not realise his error.

    original rifle caliber selection.

I'm not sure if this is the correct area to post this question. I see many odd, to todays ideal, calibers in original muzzle loaders. For example in the book Thoughts on the Kentucky Rifle in it's Golden Age, I see many 43's 47's 67's 59's etc. I am curious, how did the gun makers select the...

    Nelsonite?

Has anyone used this product on knife handles, if so , what are your thoughts? From what I understand it is supposed to penetrate the wood and 'harden' it, but without giving the wood the glossy look of production knifes. Thanks.

    new topic ruger Old Army

I don't have that model, but are you lubing over the bullets in the chamber? That ,along with running a tight patch (usually dry)through the bore every two cylinders or so , and cleaning the forcing cone, seems to allow me many shots before cleaning.

    Bustin plastic jugs with water

I DO need to find a good club. I belonged to one once before, but I didn't like the weird scheduales they had ( pistol range open only every third week, trap shooting had priority over rifle shooting, so if anyone wanted to trap shoot , the rifle range had to be cleared no matter who was there...

A cheap way to make targets

I used to shoot our mail box with a pellet rifle as a kid. After many years of doing so, I finally heard that," Some one shot our mail box with a shot gun!" Oops.

The Most Accurate Gun I Own

The most accurate rifle I own , is a Invest Arm hawkin clone. A person just cannot miss with that rifle. Unfortunately, I dislike that rifle and it seems to get uglier every day. Rubber recoil pad, short barrel, HUGE modern sights. Yuck, just not my style. :barf: But, it is good to hear about...

    Bustin plastic jugs with water

This morning, I was shooting my new Crocket rifle. Fired three shots with a .315 Hornady RB , 25gr Pyrodex fffg and .010 patch. Decent group, but could be much better. So I changed to a .016 patch, and on the second shot of the second group ; All heck broke loose, about four guys blasted...

Yes sir, sometimes I have to relearn lessons. I normally have a 1911 tucked away, but I'd hate to use it. I like what Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid movie said," The best defense? No be there!"

Coin wrappers for Dove shoot...powder & shot

I haven't tried , but think it's a good idea. It would be easy to shove the empty in a pocket, and they hold closed fairly well. I have a couple with steel BB's inside that haven't broke yet. Most banks give them away free, the penny size may be about right. :hmm:

    Bustin plastic jugs with water

I am very cautious about who I allow to fire my weapons. A while back, I let a fellow shooter fire my '51 Navy clone. I almost didn't get it back. It was a tense situation. Now I don't let 'strangers' fire my weapons, regulars I meet and have gotten to know at the range; yes. Strangers; no. On a...

    musket vs #11 caps

90gr Pyrodex ffg 470gr TC Maxi bullet #11 cap = 2 inches @ 150 yards. 90 gr Pyrodex ffg 470gr TC Maxi bullet CCI Musket Cap = 2 inches @ 150 yards. No change in point of impact throughout the trajectory range, or on target. A chronograph is a diagnostic tool, used to help a shooter understand a...
