    Traditional only

When an athlete gets paid to endorse a certain shoe....He will wear that shoe regardless if it causes blisters or doesn't fit well. This, IMO, is the same situation our game law makers and some writers are in. The idea of backing sidelock or underhammer rifles for hunting when so few are being...

    Giving your barrel a blow?

As a long time blow-hard...I have always blown down the barrel of my flinter. Here in the south with high humidity, the touchhole can "jam up" pretty quickly and blowing clears it for the next shot. As far as fanning the embers...I blow and give a few seconds before reloading to give time for...

    muzzleloader magazine

Mine was fine except for that article by the Penthouse pet of year...something about rabbit hunting at some mansion!!! The photo spread wasn't bad though..... ::

WHO CAN BUILD ME THIS RIFLE?

So, does that mean No one used the 1792 gun until 1812 when locks were available?????? I guess they just sat with an empty mortice for 20 years!!!!!!???????? :o

    Pyramid Tents Question

Interesting thread! The way I see it,is that paintings, drawings and journals are all we have in our attempt to depict an era prior to the invention of the camera. Our language has changed alot through the years and the visual is basically all we have to go by. Just because a journal entry...

    2005 Georgia State Muzzleloading Championship

I'll be in Knoxville, Tn. until Fri. night...plan to get home, pack up and head down to Lenox on Sat. morn. Should be there around 11:00 am.....hopefully! With all that driving, doubt I'll shoot very good. How's that for an early excuse?

We must all be in this together, we are here.

Just curious; why don't you hunt the muzzleloading season with your "first love" traditional muzzleloader instead of the inline????? ::

    What's happened to muzzleloading?

We had some of this discussion at the Georgia woods walk you were good enough to attend. Things have changed for sure. I think there are still plenty of "us" out there...just in smaller groups. The self-imposed restrictions of "pre-1779, or 1750 period only, or Fur trade period only" events have...

    An Afghan gun shop

I think the one at the bottom of the photo is a reproduction....the originals only had 7312 inlays! :: :haha:

    Forum Member passed away

I don't know where to start on Two Shadows. Russ was a friend of mine . I met him back in the early 70's when I joined up with the American Mtn. Men. He was easy to spot, always sitting in his chair cooking something. He loved to cook.....and eat! By the way, that's where his name came from-he...

    A reminder...

Sorry to hear about your pup.....3 years is still a pup. I've been there a few times in the last 50 years, and it never gets easier to lose a companion. The only way I ever got over it was to get another dog as soon as possible to occupy my time and give "love" to. It really helps not to get...

Quiz time for: It don't ring true??

Sorry to dispell all the above, but the true origin of ring true originated in the late 1800's. Mothers would fill a tub with water and soap and tell their kids it was time for their weekly bath. After each one bathed, she would inspect the tub for a "ring" of dirt. If the kid faked taking a...

A dog tale... (long, sad, depressing)

Vic, So sorry to hear about Mookie. I know what you are going through- I've buried two family pets. Monti was part coyote and the smartest dog I ever saw. She hated everyone but me...not "biteing" hate, but "intimidateing stare" hate.I can still see her bright yellow eyes that seemed to go right...

    found an arrowhead

some other consideration. When the Apaches were being hunted down by the calvary,,,they ran out of bullets and metal tipped arrows. They reverted back to hiding in the hills and chipping stone points for arrows as a last ditch effort ... Anything to throw at the pursueing soldiers! So, stone...
