    Field fix- genius or not?

Is this a work of Wile E Coyote type genius or is it gonna blow up in my face eventually? The clean-out screw in the drum of my CVA plainshunter had the slot stripped by an over-zealous range assistant this summer. I managed to get it out with some little difficulty and was left with a gaping...

    Post deleted by Claude

Have you tried leather dye? I've had luck using Fiebings British Tan dye to darken horn and antler, and it tends to darken the cut lines more than a smoother surface, as I found when trying on a not-so-well polished piece.

A dog tale... (long, sad, depressing)

I'm posting this here because of all the places I go, most of the folks here will understand the loss of a loved dog. If it doesn't fit or isn't appropriate just delete it, and no feelings harmed. Apologies in advance for dredging up any buried memories you may have reading this. - - - - - - - -...

    Deer carving pattern for ???

I could blame lack of sleep, or age, or not enough coffee... but the sad case is simply and honestly I got a severe case of CRS syndrome. I forgot who I told I was finding this for. From an old (1960's vintage) Doodle Page, the leather carver's lesson sheets from Tandy. For the leathersmiths out...

    Silly little projects

My silly little ball block- pecan with an antler starter. Can't tell what the animal is supposed to be- I kept seeing "dog" in there, but the wood disagreed. :) oh- eye is brass pin thru black-dyed birch, and brass for the nose. Possibles bag- about 6" tall x 8" wide, 2-3" gusset. A little...

Sometimes things just plain go wrong!

In response to a thread in Accoutrements about everyone's work being so great, and some desires to see some of the manure we can produce... Here's a few of my "nicer" failures of note. What was to become a wood powder measure (apostle?), at the suggestion of another board member. Note the uneven...

    Couple of my knives...

Just a couple of knives I made a few years back. Both are about 6" overall. First one is a bought blade, ebony handle. The ebony was from a scrapped antique piano keyboard. A luthier friend got the ivory before I got there  The blade doesn't really have any odd lines on it- that's just the...

Maybe OT: for the PA crowd

:sorry: :sorry: if this is off topic, but after seeing so many PA folks here, and a game officer too, maybe one of them could shed some light on the patch below. Maybe for some Scout conservation project? Did the Valley Forge trail a few times- part of that maybe? The memory ain't what it...

Silly idea or stroke of genius?

So.... I'm cleaning up some old wood turnings in the 'get back to them later" bin and come across a few partially finished bottle stoppers turned from cherry. Seems the stem dried too small for the bottle stopper insert to fit, about .475-.490. The thought struck that these would fit in the...

    Just another dang newbie

Been lurkin round the outskirts of your fire for a couple of weeks, seeing if I fit in somewheres. I started shooting ML only a few years ago as part of running the Shooting Sports program at a Boy Scout Camp. First time shooting one was addictive, but I suppose you all know that. Liked it so...
