    Tradeing

I tried trading my wifes neice for a good gun a few years back (cute young thing from the Philippines), but she ran away and I couldn't catch her in time. Ask No Deer about it.

    Lyman GPR Lock troubles

Too small of a flint. Recommend getting a 3/4 x 7/8 flint and space it about 1/8 inch from the frizzen at half cock.

    Get the lead out, please!

Might try some Break Free or PB Blaster soaked over night to see if it can get underneath the lead and lift it. Plug and fill the barrel. Good luck with it. Ammonia might also work as long as you don't leave it too long.

    rough barrel

Mike, two real quick questions. Have you scrubbed the bore real good with either 0000 steel wool or a Scotch Brite pad? If not, try that to take some of the roughness out, may just be burrs on the cut rifleing. Have you measured the bore diameter at the muzzle? A DGW .45 from the early 80's a...

Plains percussion rifle - unknown maker

I've seen one very early CVA that was marked like this, possibly their first run. My early CVA Mountain Rifle only had CVA and 50 on the barrel. Later ones had Connecticut Valley Arms and the address with the caliber. Later after that they added the S/N. This is the progression I saw on the...

    Hunting Pouch

TH, making a hunting pouch is pretty much doing it the way you want. Gussets are for providing more room inside the pouch. They can be just at the bottom or a full gusset to open the pouch all the way to the top. They can be wide open on the inside with or without a gusset, have a divider inside...

    Replacement locks, Pedersoli

Here's a picture of the lock on my Pedersoli Frontier. Don't know how it is size wise, other than the tail of the lock plate being longer and pointed. It's a pretty beefy and reliable lock once it's cleaned up a little. I use a 3/4 flint in it even though Pedersoli calls for a 5/8.

trying to find a Black Powder dealer

PM Poor Private: http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fusionbb/showuser.php?uid/10993/ He's in your neck of the woods and should be able to tell you if there is anything close to you.

    Lead whiskers

I would be inclined to agree with R.M. as there appears to be a couple wrinkles in that bullet. Lead and/or mold not hot enough.

Jag and patches stuck in barrel

Pull your touch hole liner. Go to an auto parts store and get a grease zirk with threads to match. Pump it out wit a grease gun.

Installing l&r lock in a gpr

The one thing I will mention concerning the L&R RPL lock plate is make sure that lock plate is tight to the barrel at the pan. On the one I did last year for a friend needed to have the lock plate set deeper. At the depth Lyman had the lock plate inlet had the L&R standing off the barrel about...

    60 grs FFFg for Deer

Those puppy dog sized deer you have down in Texas don't need the monster sized loads. 60 grs. of FFFg is plenty to 75 yds, just make sure of your shot placement like any other shot.

    Bulk Flints

A friend was telling me about a supplier who sells bulk english flints. Unfortunately he can not find the contact information anymore. He had bought 50 3/4 inch flints for $80.00 + shipping. I have two locks that just don't like Rich's flints, so have to use english in them. Thanks, Rick

    Wall Tent frame

Denny, Here's a picture of mine: I've seen them a lot of different ways. Corner poles with long pole along the side, all poles along the side, only corner poles with nothing in between. It all depends on how you want it set up. A long pole on the side would be difficult to transport without...

    CVA drum from T.O.W

Thanks, That clears up my questions. For some reason (with my limited CVA drum experience) I was thinking the standard CVA drum went further through the breech plug and left a thinner barrel wall on the back side.

    CVA drum from T.O.W

Necchi, Bring me up to speed on that replacement drum like you're talking about. Is it a exact replacement for the CVA drum? Does it have the rounded part that goes all the way through the barrel? I have a Mountain Rifle that I keep for other people to learn with and have never needed to replace...

    CVA drum from T.O.W

This sounds more like a standard drum with metric threads to convert a CVA flint to percussion. I believe the area where the rounded part of drum goes through the barrel would be awful weak if you tried firing it without the proper drum.
