    Traditions

I like the look of a fullstock, but I'd rather use a half stock that I can pull the barrel out of. I'm not graceful, and all that long wood at the far end seems so fragile. My half-stock Traditions 24" bbl won at the 25 yard line a few months ago, despite my shooting.

Thanks! I keep forgetting that I can probably buy most things I need. There is a value in learning to do it myself, but the time required is immense, since I'm a slow learner...

    Traditions

At first it did come off as attitude, but this explination showed that your response was more thought out, if not verbose. I find the trigger on my Traditions Deer Hunter to be very soft. Not brass, but use is wearing it out. Since it's a one piece thing, I may go over to the gunsmith thread...

    Pure frustration

Could you drill and tap for a White Lightening touch hole liner? That might give you enough room to lever it up a little, enough for some powder to go in.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Got the shelves up in the garage, and that gave me permission to open my Kibler kit. Beautiful! There's no AC in the garage though, so all I can do is look at it right now.

    Howdy from north central Tejas!

    New fella from Carolinas here.

Welcome from Texas, and recently of the Charleston SC area.

    WKU. 6day Kibler build.

My Kibler kit is staring at me from the closet. We just moved, and I promised myself I wouldn't open the box until we had the heavy stuff in the new house. So, take what I say with a little bias. I write fiction as a hobby, and have been writing short stories for most of my life. Back in 2016...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Newbie question, what does "bone the stock" mean, and how do you do it?

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Covering a few days, since we've just moved and I was off-line for a bit. Finished the main part of "Paul Revere's Ride", a recommendation from the Appleseed Project. Fun book, and an easy read. I like the way the British were treated, I'm sure there were good men on both sides. Starting to get...

Welcome! I'm somewhere between you and @Eterry but closer to them. :)

What is your method to combat offhand wobble?

Maybe it's just 'cause I'm fat, but I can rest my left tricep against my upper ribs, all digits on the left hand are on the left side of the rifle, and the lowest thumb bone is up against the trigger guard. I keep my right (trigger side) elbow horizontal, like the old school folks do, to ensure...

Anyone have the diameter of the 7 ring on an NRA B-6 target?

That' exactly what I needed, thanks!

Anyone have the diameter of the 7 ring on an NRA B-6 target?

I'm not good enough to consistantly hit it at 50 yards yet, but that's my first goal. I use paper plates now, but am planning for the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program.

Getting a flat/no shine milk chocolate on standard maple?

I like that finish, that's what I'm looking for. It looks like trans-tint comes in 2 oz bottles, will that be enough for a full length stock? Is BLO, "boiled linseed oil"? It is safe to assume I know very little; if you assume I know even less than that then you're probably right. :) Are...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Firmly committed to buying the Kibler kit. On the Kibler website, there's a list of tools, to include a bench vise. That meant I needed a bench, so I bought one at Harbor Freight and just finished putting it together. Will work on figuring out the vise tomorrow, since the holes don't line up.

Getting a flat/no shine milk chocolate on standard maple?

I'm getting my first Kibler kit lined up, and trying to keep it simple. I've seen posts where maple stocks were a nice milk chocolate brown, and didn't have a shiny finish. What do I use to get that?

    A thanks from me.

Your post makes me want to be more like the people here. Thank you.

100 yard accuracy difference between smoothbore and rifle?

The best part, besides the humor, was that @64Springer gave a good metric; "no time", and "100 yards".

100 yard accuracy difference between smoothbore and rifle?

Thanks! I *thought* that was the case, but I'm almost smart enough to realize how little I know.
