    Pedersoli Barrel question

With the 39 inch barrel it would be a nice smooth bore gun. If it was mine I would figure out how well it shoots before anything else. You don't need a ton of powder and the spot is way down the barrel. Not being familiar with a Flintlock may be most of the accuracy problem. :)

    Suggestions and questions

A little .32 ball will do a lot of damage to a Squirrel. Head shots are best if possible. As you know a .45 ball will do more damage but if it's in the head no big deal. I think a .40 would work and not break the bank making your own balls. :)

    Brass range rod

3rd vote for the 3 piece CVA rod. Wally world had them for 15 dollars a few years ago. It's handy to swap lengths around.

    Flint to percusion

I think it would be better to sell the flint and get a cap gun. If you have personal reasons to keep it that is a different story. :)

    Hunting prep

I use wasp nest between the powder and the patched ball. Then i put a little olive oil on a cleaning patch to help with rust . Never rusts but i let them set outside for the entire season. Usually shoot after 3 or 4 months. Olive oil on patched ball also.
