    Custom Flintlock

Just a thought but you might call Track of the Wolf. They advertise shipping out of country and list Australia. They deal with a lot of custom builders. What caught my eye was the fact that they do all or most of the hard red tape work on the US end. Best of luck.

    Barrel Twist Rate

That sure seems like a fast twist considering a .45-70 has a 1-18 or slower twist. Shoot it and see what happens.

    my cannon build

Nice looking gun Buzz. Several of us do some live fire near Ft Churchill. We normally go in the Spring when the ground dries out.

    safe load?

That might be a bit much powder. In my 1 7/8 bore gun I use 1,000 grains for a blank load.

What do we haul our ammuniton in?

    Excellent workmanship.

    Ever heard of this??

Yea I shoot 1,000 yard with my 63 Sharps .45 with the 500 grain projo. In the past we have shot RB long gong to 600 yards.

    Black Powder/Dallas-Ft. Worth

Good Grief, if you live in Texas, buy it from Coonies Explosives in NM. Save some shipping money.

    Is this safe?

juancho; Kinda sorta did it once with a piece of EMT electrical conduit. I had one of my guys put together a Bazooka looking thing as a theatrical prop. It fired a small charge of BP as a blank for some shows we did. As I recall it was 2.5 inch diameter conduit. Some years later we wanted to...

    Is this safe?

Normally I and others like to see a wall thickness of one bore diameter at the breech end of the gun. So a gun with a two inch bore would be six inches in diameter at the breech. The outside taper should start well ahead of the projectile when loaded. Welded anything on a cannon tube is a no-no...

    projectile material?

I think you'll find most of us shooting zinc or lead balls today. Both metals are easy to cast. Iron/steel balls can be used if the proper size can be obtained. For my own guns I have always made the switch from lead to zinc at two inch bore and above. Balls of any kind are normally sized small...

    Biodegradeable airsoft pellets? :shake:

    Mass. Woes...

When did the shooting of a cannon become the business of a Fire Chief? What is a Cannon Permit?

    loading ?

Not much to it really. I don't fool with a wad. Powder, ball and Crisco. About 25 grains seems to be OK in the .44 guns.

    100 yard accuracy, new shooter?

Mark; I don't think two inch groups is an unreasonable request. No physical reason exists for not getting two inch groups from a M/L gun. Eliminating all possible human error is of course the first step. The average Human eye can subtend about one inch at 100 yards. That's a built in error so...

    First shot confidence

My confidence is always high on a clean bore first shot. The first step prior to loading is to clean the bore and vent area/channel good with solvent. Carb cleaner, ether, white gas, etc. Then I will blow out the bore with compressed air from the muzzle. All of this prior to leaving camp or...

    South Bend Replicas

I have had two SB tubes. Very good quality and an old and reputable company.

BP - the real stuff...where to buy?

Buy it online and save yourself the retail markup. Even if you buy it at a local store you still pay the Hazmat and shipping, it's rolled into the retail price.

    Missing Goex and T7 3f

Why bother mixing? You can't improve on either T7 or BP. Use one or the other.

    Tumbling cast balls

I tumble mine just so I don't have to line up the sprue. As far as accuracy is concerned I can't tell any difference.
