    :v The dealers may be the ones trying to drop .54s. As for projectiles a mold will guarantee your supply of Rb or suitable conicals. A .54 Rb will handle most game including elk or moose, and for brown bears then you'd be good with a conical. Depends what you want or have available for hunting...

    :v A starter charge of Bp in front of 777 in a flint gun is considered safe by most. But, never mix powders as the burn rate can be totally changed with possible disastrous results, Not a good idea in any gun. :td:

    :v LYMAN makes a Rear Peep 57M that is a modern type and generally not accepted at Rondys, but is an excellent sight for hunting, very rugged. Mounts to the tang. :v

    Can I use a carbon arrow for a ramrod?

    :v I don't think this a good idea, as it may well shatter and the shards are sharp and may not be visible on X-rays for removal. Reliable synthetic or wood rods are cheaper and made for the purpose.

    :v Here's my $.02 worth. Given that the barrels are the same dimension externally the .62 will be a little lighter due to the bigger bore. The .62 will have more "wompability" due to a heavier ball. The .58 could be pushed a bit faster with slightly less drop, but at PRb ranges and velocities...
