    NMLRA Friendship

Even if we lose the June Shoot (12 weeks out), we should ALMOST certainly get the September shoot in. We have a LOT of senior citizens there, and a few crowded areas, like registration, cafeteria, opening ceremony, and shooters night at traders row. The Flea markets could be a disaster in the...

    what's wrong here?

Actually, the target says M.L.R.A. It is printed by some target company.

So I bought a cannon to restore

My wife has said "NO!!!" for 35 years, every time I've suggested I should get a cannon. At one time I commented how a Naval mine beside the flag pole (tastefully done) would look so good. "NO!!!" But I still ask a couple of times a year.

How do you prime your pan?

I have a Pedersoli flint Kentucky pistol. The gap between the pan and the base of the frizzen is fairly small. I have yet to find a way to prime as well as I want to. All of my other flintlocks prime easily enough by horn, flask, or plunger device, but this Pedersoli is going to lead me to...

    Pitted Barrel Project

I'm glad to see a post on the White Lightning carbine. I bought one for my wife for her first rifle in September at Friendship. She towers over the world at 5'0" and needs a small rifle. She immediately shot much better than using a CVA Bobcat (although a 44" range rod is a bit much for the 18...

    Japanese Brown Bess identity question.

In my Miroku Bess I like 90 grains of FFg, or 100 grains of Fg of Goex behind a .715 or .735 round ball. I also find that my trigger finger is too short to reach the trigger properly so I pull the trigger with my middle finger. It works fine. As i got it, the trigger pull was really hard, so I...

STUPID THINGS YOUR RIFLE CAN DO

I think some flinterlocks have an "eyeball" of sorts instead of a touch hole. Somehow the eyeball helps to aim the rifle better. However, just like a human eyeball when exposed to bright light contracts (opposite of dilate?), the rifles touch hole eyeball will also contract when it senses the...

    Looking for Unique Target Ideas

I operate Woodswalk at Friendship, and am always looking for new and innovative target ideas to put in action. My comments on Phil's suggestions are: Split a ball on an axe more frequently is scored by shooting clay birds with the ball fragments. The results is instantly seen, although cost and...

    3 f pan primer

I have a Pedersoli flintlock Kentucky pistol, and find that the tip of my powder horns are too large to get inside the small opening of the pan and the base of the frizzen. My plunger style primer works tolerably well, but I'm sure there's a better alternative out there.

    Creating a muzzleloader club

Ask the NMLRA if they could send a letter announcing your club or whatever it turns out to be. You provide the letter with all the details, and they could send it to members within certain ZIP codes. I wish you success!

So I have all this lead shot?

I'm not a shotgunner, but as I recall from my readings, shotgun pellets are made with antimony in order for them to form the pellets nice and round. A side effect of the antimony is that the shot is harder.

    Target Flintlock Pistol

No problem. You find the Yazel pistol of your dreams, then you marry into the family that owns it. See? No problem. That said, I own 2 Pedersoli Kentucky pistols, 1 each in percussion and flint. If I also owned a Yazel, I'd have to give up operating the Woodswalk at Friendship to free up time...

Naming guns; Pet names for them. I had a .45 cal. flintlock back in the mid-1970's...

Some years ago my wife called me from a yard sale in our fair city saying a gun was there like I shoot. At the time I was looking to get a nicer rifle than the factory guns which make up most of my arsenal. I went to the sale, expecting to see a CVA or T/C. Instead, there was the rifle of my...

    My 1/4 Scale Parrot Rifle

Details please? What is your powder and charge? What do you use as a projectile? Are there sights? I don't see them. How deep is the rifling and what is the rate of twist? Lastly, do you have a tiny little team of horses to pull it?

    Lyman 36 caliber Revolver

I wanted a Remington in .36 caliber, and I patiently shopped for it for quite a while before I found one and snatched it up. Then my local range closed down for over a year and it has seen very limited use. It sure feels good in my hand.
