New Uberti 1861 Navy from Midway. Buyer Beware!

The op, PastorB, posted on page one that the Uberti was paid for with a pre-paid debit card. For others reading this thread we suggest using a credit card for online retail transactions so that you have the power to create a return dispute through the credit card company. Also, for those...

    Hello from the Silver State

You probably already know but just a reminder to beware of scam websites selling hard to get #11 caps and other hard to get supplies. Big red flag is the scam websites do not take credit cards only payment methods with no recourse for scammed buyers. Searching the MLF will show more...

Need advise on possible restoration project.

In over 50 years of collecting Colts have seen many firearms needlessly damaged by parts removal and "restoration". It would be helpful to know if there is any partially visible marking of " Colt's Patent " on the left side of the frame, what the serial numbers are and where they are located...

    FF in a six gun

Used quite a bit of FF over the years in Remington .44 and 1860 Colt .44 revolvers. In just casual plinking and shooting tin cans, etc. could not tell any difference from 3F.

    Two more followed me home

Very nice case colors showing on the U.S. Grant Colt. The High Standard is also a great find; have not seen one for sale in person in a long time.

Gun from Civil War found in trash can at Gettysburg Walmart

Pretty funny writing about the "Civil War" Pietta. Many years ago at a gun show a father and his young son showed us a decent Euroarms 1851 Navy .36 replica the son found in a trash dumpster. They turned the gun in to law enforcement and eventually got it back when nobody claimed the gun.

    WANTED Stainless Walker

Do not think there has ever been a stainless steel Walker. The closest would be the old Armi San Marco (ASM) Walker with a stainless steel cylinder.

    Shootout..Beauty vs The Beast

That is a good shooting Uberti Walker. Really like the beautiful color case hardening on your Walker :) !

What originally came in the box with a brand new Ruger old army in 1973

The brush did not come in the original box with your Ruger. Old Army would have come with the NRA invitation, owner's manual, nipple wrench and protective wrapping paper. Think there have been several minor variations of the " L " shaped nipple wrench over the production run. Seem to recall...

    WITHDRAWN Spare 1858-44 army cylinder

The single cylinder in the third picture has what looks like the factory logo for defunct company Palmetto next to the row of numbers. https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/modern-replica-dating-by-proof-marks.49482/

    On Line Scammer Warning

Have you frozen your credit with the three major national credit reporting bureaus, i.e. Equifax, Experian and TransUnion? If you need future credit just ask the creditor which bureau they use and unfreeze that report with the appropriate company. Easy to unfreeze.

    Western Arms Corp. 1860 Army

Glenn, you did very well for your first cap and ball revolver purchase. Your Uberti looks well fitted and finished in your pictures. The grips are really nice. Think you will regret it if you sell the 1860. Remember this ain't a dress rehearsal. Deals in the condition and price you scored are...

    Traditions Walker

Look on the bottom of the barrel for markings of " ASM or SM " which indicates Armi San Marco. They are generally good, serviceable revolvers. Price is a little high compared to available new Walker's with warranty.

    Small pawnshop find

Looks like an SM or otherwise called ASM for Armi San Marco. Searches on the forum will turn up lots of information. Stone Mountain Arms is whoever bought a bunch of these and imported them from Italy. You got a very good deal at $120.

Something that always bugged me in the Horse Operas…

Cringe worthy seeing movie actors abuse old Colt's. Back when Western movie production got going old used guns were relatively inexpensive for the studios and gun rental companies to buy. Really disliked seeing Kevin Costner firing four shots then fanning 7 shots near the end of Open Range...

Just picked up, Model 1849 Colt

Don't think you got stung at all. Looks like a very nice condition Colt 1849. Hard to find one that nice in person with all matching numbers in good working condition and at a reasonable price. Was at a small one day antiques and antique gun show last Saturday and noticed two 1849 Colts for...
