Regrets with L and R lock for Traditions?

I recently bought a L&R lock for my flintlock traditions woodsman. The standard stock lock fits the same in any as the same, tried with a buddies lock in my gun, fits where it should be right at the touchhole and centered... The new L&R lock is about 3/16-1/4" behind the touchhole, As they...

    Humpback Flints?

They dont grip in the jaws of the cock well, due to the one point of contact. There are ways to combat this, typically grinding them down a bit to make a flat surface. A grinder with a diamond blade helps alot, glue it to a stick to hold onto, keep wet with water to cool, touch the back and...

Replacement lock for traditions hawken woodsman

I recently got a new lock from TOTW, a L&R replacement lock for the traditions hawken woodsman. After carefully relieving a few bits of wood hear and there, I got it to seat flat against the barrel. After a few hours of this... now I'm sadly wondering if I have received a wrong lock. The pan of...

Convert ANY flintlock to percussion for $60 …

Why??? A good question...an example My flintlock has been having some issues, for the last few years. The frizzen needs to be repaired and due to the screws location I can't remove easily. I needed a gun to fire, I had another caplock with a broken sear, so a swap of the hammers and a...

    Traditions flintlock to matchlock conversion...

Ya, no modifications to the gun stock or barrel. Uses existing bolt to secure new lock, same thread same hole position. Used a few paper templates to get lock plate positions right. As long as you use the sunrise of the center touchhole to the position of the pan, everything else fits...

    Attaching pan on matchlock?

I'd say attach it to the lock, but that's with assuming it has one, but still nothing wrong with this as a stand alone pan, in variants with a separate serpentine... IE. depends on the look of what erra of time and location your going for.

Replacement lock for traditions hawken woodsman

A few have said overall its a better bet on a new lock, as there are tuned a better hardened part on them. But the main issue is that the frizzen retaining screw is captive from the back of the lock plate, opposed to typical locks that have the screw come out from the front, with that being...

    Traditions flintlock to matchlock conversion...

The match wedges in the cock/serpentine, it just stays there after shooting... but ya I need one anyways.... just didn't have time to make one, or get one yet.. I kept the original trigger setup, as this it just the conversion lock from the flintlock it is.. I have that still... just working...

    Traditions flintlock to matchlock conversion...

I finally took some better up close pics. It show next to a small Siler lock I have for comparison.. Pan was silver soldered onto the lockplate, had to add a couple of filler blocks to fit some spaces, also when I was fitting the pan originally, I jammed a wedge to hold the position... just...
