    Circle of life this morning...

Great story! I have only ever caught glimpses of Bobcats as they are slipping away. They always manage to see me before I see them!

    Flintlock Coyote

Nice shot! We are just corroded with yotes here, I shoot them every opportunity I get!

How Many Process Their Own Game?

I have always processed my own deer. Working alone it takes me 5-6hrs until everything is packaged & in the freezer.

    Ramrod launch

A range rod is your friend. Having a foot or more of brass rod hanging out of your muzzle is hard to miss.

    T/c 54. Hawkens

Really depends where you are looking to buy one. Private sale & Sparkitoff is pretty much dead on. If you looking at auction houses add about $200 to start on his number.

    Your first muzzleloader?

Like many others mine was a CVA Kentucky Rifle Flintlock kit roughly 40yrs ago. I thought I did a really good job on building it to my critical & wise 13yr old eye. I shot the snot out of that rifle & was well pleased with the accuracy.

    German Wheelock Pistol Builder

Your command of English is far better than mine of Spanish. Well done sir, you have a made a lovely pistola! Many times I have fancied the idea of making a wheelock but never took up the rasp to do it. How does she shoot?

I'm Still Shaking! Placed Order for Rifle

"Usually" on TOTW listing you can see the position of the flash hole. I dont think I saw the pics of this rifles posting but their description certainly is false advertising so they should have covered return shipping. Then again I dont know prior to this thread if I would have actually looked...

    "Fixing" the TC Hawken

Howdy folks, I have a TC Hawken 54 I bought as a kit in the early 80s that I recently started shooting again after being in the safe for 20yrs. Its still a fine shooter but I have an itch to make it more HC. I have looked at the parts in the Hawken Shop & plan to order their 4 piece conversion...

    Anyone Else Use 1F

I can't say I have ever bought a can of 1F. I am surprised you report less fouling. My experience tends to be the opposite. The finer the granulation of powder used the less fowling I see. I may just have to give it a try. Some of my rifles may actually like it.

    A Kibler Build

Just out of curiosity, what kinda of wait time did you you have from order to delivery on the kit?

    Complete Kibler Colonial Smoothrifle

Beautifully done! You should be very proud! How does she shoot? You have had a solid weekend with her so please tell me you went & got her dirty.

I'm Still Shaking! Placed Order for Rifle

Honestly I am kinda amazed you had that experience. Just to make sure all bases are covered. You didnt have your priming charge against the flash hole did you? Doing so creates a fuse effect. Since you mention having 2 other flintlocks I assume you know your business then but its always...

    Thoughts on the smoothrifle

Oh this made me laugh! I have done that very sneak quite a few times. Fortunately/unfortunately my wife has no interest in shooting so she really cant tell one gun from another. She only seems to notice the "pretty" ones. Many a time she will spot a new gun & ask "Did you just get that?". Me...

    a start in muzzle loading

Great story, thanks for sharing! I would love to have a couple pints with you!

    Thoughts on the smoothrifle

I have noticed this as well. I to believe as another here stated that smoothrifles were far more common that we like to believe. Rifling was a time consuming & costly process so it should come as no surprise that the thrifty would not want/need it. The straight rifling I have wondered about as...

    The Sacketts

I have little doubt that is right for functional "movie" purposes. However the pistol as shown in the movie is definitely a C&B 1860. The Richards Mason cartridge conversion of the 1860 Army included removing the loading lever, adding a cartridge extractor along the side of the barrel as well...

I finally got a .54 cal PRB shooter

Congrats on a good shooter! It will have no problem putting meat on the table. I took my very 1st deer with BP using a TC Hawken in 54 with a PRB. I still have that gun but havent shot it in better than 20yrs. You have inspired me to drag her out & shoot it again. I hope it can do nearly as well.
