    Help ID a Naval Cannon

I would be proud to have that gun! Zinc is the correct projectile material that can be cast at home. Lead is far to heavy. An aluminum mold will not work, it will get "soft" since zinc will be cast at over 800 degrees & aluminum melts at 1220 degrees. I had Dominick Carpenter make me 2.20" and...

    Pedersoli Le Page

I got an unfired, new in the box .44 flintlock Pedersoli La Page 16 - 19 years ago that was on consignment at a small gun shop. The seller & shop owner wanted the $149 that the original price tag read. It was made in 1983. It is by far the most accurate flintlock pistol that I have. It has...

Long wood ramrod / cleaning rod source.

I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a Hudson Valley fowler on the American Long Rifles forum made by Mr. Brooks with a 60" barrel. My problem is locating a hardwood dowel that is 3/8" or 7/16" x 72" for a cleaning rod or backup ram rod. I have checked wood suppliers, craft suppliers, Track...

Things to look for on a Jackie Brown rifle/value?

Hi Birddog1911, I have a .62 "Carolina Gun" smoothbore with rifle type stock that I purchased used in late '06, in person, from a forum member. My wife shoots it almost exclusively at rendezvous type tradegun & clay events. It's provided good service. It has easily obtained lock parts if...

    Brass furniture/Patina or Shiny ?

I am partial to the aged look. When I was younger, & had shiny new guns, I tried to keep it bright but have grown to like the well used but cared for look. I'd let it continue aging. :2

    Pistol Flints

Now I'm confused (definitely NOT My 1st time :surrender:). I wouldn't touch an agate one, learned that on My 1st flinter 13 years ago when I was 15 years old! BUT I've only read & heard good things about the Amber Flints. I've been considering ordering some, hoping they are noticably better than...

    Pedersoli Brown Bess

PGTMG, so what of the trade? I'd 2nd the poor case hardened frizzens, at least on older ones. STOUT triggers too. Replacement frizzens can be had at Dixie Gun Works & Mine has worked for alot of rounds & triggers can be smoothed. YOU NEED TO USE IT WITH SHOT TOO! Mine is a clay killin machine...

    Shot snakes...

I like the Irish style also BUT commonly break the flat retaining spring/release & must buy replacement charger heads. I use them for shotgun matches & load my Bess from the pouch, the common flasks i see with English chargers don't seem to hold enough shot for that.

    Trask Mountain Primitive Rendezvous

tg, I saw a picture of you and your fusil on here somewhere and thought, I saw those two at the O.T.F shoot! I have shot there for a couple years now. I wish we had met there. I thoroughly enjoy your posts. TVG
