    Great Plains Vs GPH

GPH is 1-32? If I cannot find a GPH I may have to buy a new Gemmer and the 1-24 hunter barrel they offer.

FOR SALE Lyman Great Plains Percussion Rifle, .50

Ya, I am hoping I can find one. I had a Gemmer Hawken and a 1-24 barrel for it in a shopping cart. Couldn’t pull the trigger, by the time I buy both I am over $1K. At that point I should just buy the Pedersoli Missouri River. lol. I will keep searching.

FOR SALE Lyman Great Plains Percussion Rifle, .50

Wish it was a Hunter version. By the time I buy a new barrel, it would be hard to justify. Nice looking rig though.

I am guessing this has a 1-66 or similar barrel?

    CVA Mountain rifle Barrels

Curious, are the 50 cal and 45 cal barrels interchangeable? I have a 50 and in my quest for a conical rifle I am thinking of finding another barrel and having it bored or sleeved to a fast twist and keeping my 1-66 for PRB.

    WANTED Lyman GPH

Sorry no interest in another PRB barrel, assuming the GPR has the slow barrel.

Is that with the 1-24 twist? May be a bit over my budget…

    WANTED Lyman GPH

Looking for either a GPH or a Mountain Rifle with a 1/48 twist barrel. Percussion, 50 cal preferred, possibly a 54 for the right deal.

    Great Plains Vs GPH

I have a CVA mountain rifle that most likely will do ok with the PA conicals. However with elk on my list of critters I think it would be wise to looks for a heavier bullet selection.

    Great Plains Vs GPH

I am thinking about a new 50 cal capable of shooting a 380-400 grain bullet for elk hunting. Curious on others thoughts on the GP/GPH rifles in general? Will a 1-48 barrel suffice for a 385 grain bullet? Or should I look for a 1-32? The 1-48 would allow me to play with PRB when desired…..

    Contaminated lead?

I would be curious if it was a sizing issue vs a hardness issue. Different alloys will shrink more or less depending on mixture/purity. While I haven’t cast bullets or balls, I did cast several thousand pounds of fishing weights over a couple year span as a small side gig weight producer. I...

    Elk hunting max range.

If I can get them to shoot I will be happy. If not I may look into a fast twist barrel for a 275-300gr conical.

    Elk hunting max range.

Looking at the ballistics from Hornady. The PA conical could assist a bit if I can get them to shoot accurately.
