Muzzleloader Magazine - help needed in contacting them...

I've emailed them a few times and have used the "Contact Us" button on their webpage. Jason usually answers within a day or two. I recently emailed about the latest issue being very late and Jason replied the same day apologizing and saying the printing delay was his fault. I would suggest...

reclaiming lead from car and motorcycle batteries

The plates didn't melt because the aren't pure lead, they have something added (can't recall what) to them to help with the recharge cycle.

    char cloth

If you drill the hole in the side of the lid rather than on the top, you can twist the lid closed when carrying the char in order to keep moisture out.

Loading with a Steel Range Rod

If striking two pieces of steel together could create a spark, you wouldn't need a piece of flint in your rifle. Or your fire making kit, or modern lighter...

Made a pair of Eastern Woodland Mocs

Here is a link to an article that you may find useful. http://www.nativetech.org/seminole/moccasins/construction.php Brain tan is expensive and, if you've ever done it you'll know why. I've not tried it, but the German tan from Crazy Crow may be a good substitute.

    Sherwin-Williams tarp in action.

Try looking up plans for Viking tents. They were made to be put up without needing stakes or guy lines. Technically they would be correct for pre 1850 North America. 😁

    WANTED WTB: Bear Grease

Check your wildlife regulations. In most states it's illegal to purchase bear parts. I'm not sure if the rendered fat would count but, better safe than sorry.

Removing flesh/meat from a deer skull.

I remove as much tissue as possible then hang the skull in a protected area (like a garage or shed) and let the remaining tissue dry. I then soak it in peroxide and scrub away anything that remains. Less smelly than boiling. If the weather is warm, I use wire to tie the skull to a tree and let...

Removing flesh/meat from a deer skull.

The easiest method that I have found, and with very little odor, is to use either a potassium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide solution. Either one can be purchased from soap making suppliers. I use about 1oz per gallon of water. The solution should feel slippery on your fingers. After a few days...

    Turkey Bones

Use hydrogen peroxide to whiten the bones, it won't break them down like bleach and it works just as well. I glue mine together with pine pitch glue. Here is a pretty good tutorial if you aren't familiar with the process. http://www.survivaltopics.com/survival/making-pitch-glue/
