    Early Colonial & Longhunter

Plenty of good info in the paper, but I have a problem with the first lines. Boone's hunts orginating from the Forks of the Yadkin were obviously long hunts, they were paid for by speculators and other creditors, but originated from North Carolina, not Virginia. While I don't think Boone...

    Diamond Shelter - 8oz or 10oz

I've got a couple of things I did and both have worked well. I bought 6 yards of oil cloth from panther, had them cut it in two and sew it up giving me a nice 9 x 9. I had them leave the edges raw and use roundballs instead of marbles for tie points. After two years of use, it looks real good...

    New Lyman GPR Question

Can any of yall advise the best place (cheepest) to buy a GPR kit? The last one I bought was in 90 or 91 and it set me back a wopping 179.00 dollars in flint!

    Longhunter School

Here is another great event along those same lines. The Kentucky Woodsman Weekend held at Ft. Boonesborough, KY on November 5th and 6th. I have always wanted to attend, but it's too far for a weekend. Here is a quote from Bill Farmer at Fort Booneborough from another board: The Kentucky...

    Just picked this up...

That is a beautiful rifle. The previous owners recomendation is a great place to start. Use the 3f! If you do, start at 50 grains and work your way up. I think there is nothing worse than having a nice lite well balanced rifle that is over loaded with powder. You kinda defeat the purpose...

something you always make at camp

Some type of fowl stuffed with diced taters, carrots, rosemary and rubbed down with Tony's. Slow cooked on a green spit from about lunch time until the dinner bell rings. I also like pork tenderloin for breakfast, just sliced and cooked with a squirrel cooker.

    Patchbox contents

Tow, worm, ball puller and, two small feather quills. Thats it. I only open it for cleaning. I keep my turn screw in my bag, so thats where the flints go.

    North Carolina State Shoot

Lance: James and I will be trying to get to that event, but may only be able to come on Saturday. He really wants another shot at your daughter in the hawk throw. Getting beat by a girl was a real bruiser :master:

is that a flintlock in your sporran ?

That would be quite the conversation piece at highland games today, and doesn't look that difficult to make. :hmm:

    Tomahawk Target

When I'm driving along and see a tree cutting crew taking down a big oak, I ask them to slice me a 12" thick chunk of trunk thats in the 20 - 24" range. Been lucky so far, and have never been without.

    Blaze Orange Requirements

Going in I wear a cheap blaze vest over my hunting shirt, and blaze bandana around my hat. In really cold weather I too wear a blaze voyager cap. I;ve seen blaze waist coats for sale in OTT, but the reversable sounds pretty cool.

    Are Muzzleloader's Weapons?

What I am saying is, and believe me if you will, but the anti gun lobby loves these boards. They love to know what we think and what we do. Come election seasons the Provocateurs run rampant proclaiming their truth for all to hear, and some of them don't own guns. They just test the water...

    Are Muzzleloader's Weapons?

Ahh, chalk gun control up to paranoia. Not a problem. Just remember that when you can't get your "weapon" shipped directly to you any more via the post office or UPS (including kits). And that pretty custom gun you dropped a grand +++ on has a sequntial serial number engraved on the barrel in...

    Are Muzzleloader's Weapons?

The Gubment say's its a non-Gun, so thats what it is. Any further discussion and I'll steal your land and come build a public shooting range on it. :kid: Very dangerous thread. Just what some lefty anti gun nut needs is people on a muzzleloading forum refering to their non-guns as weapons...

Early Rustic Arms German short rifle

I can't tell if it even has an entry thimball. Buy it in the white with plain maple, and send him a good PC trigger guard to inlet. Get the wood patchbox option also, then just a bit of carving and dark stain and you would have a very nice short barreled Germanic styled rifle.:m2c:

    Correct Sling for a Jaeger?

As Jaegermeister has stated, the butt can be a button (much easier) or swivel. Make sure you position the forearm swivel with the care he described. I would only add one thing. Add an additional lug to your barrel where you intend to put the swivel screw/bolt throught the stock. This will...
