BUYER BEWARE - Mntnhntr is a SCAMMER

Stolen Valor is worse to me than stolen money. That makes them more than just a thief, but a complete fraud of a person.

Melchior Fordney Rifle Display coming up

I am coming from western Chester County. I have been trying to get the word out to more people by posting on here and placing flyers at local shops and shows. This is the same show that used to be in Morgantown Pa. They moved to York last year. It is a great venue with wide isles and good...

This display will be at the Wyndam Garden in York PA this Friday and Saturday 9/29-9/30. The show's sponsor reports that they will have at least 8, possibly more signed M. Fordney rifles for the main display this year. On separate displays will be the "Running Deer Rifle" and two displays of...

The show is this this Friday and Saturday. It looks like they will have 8, possibly more M. Fordney rifles on display this year. On separate displays will be the "Running Deer Rifle", two displays of New England rifles, and a display of gunsmith made tools and wet stone horns. As usual...

    Flintlocks at Local Shop

Usually CVA and TC have decent barrels and will shoot accurate enough for you. An unreliable flintlock will make for a bad first experience. Replacement locks are available for TC and CVA rifles that are much more reliable, but you'll be spending another $200 to get one. I am not a fan the...

    My bear grease is lazy

For me the bear grease works OK on my steel barrels, but it is outstanding when used with a wrought iron barrel that I have. I have no idea why.

PA flintlock late season flintlock hunters

I use a flintlock in for everything in PA, this includes regular firearms season, bear season, early muzzle loader season and the late flintlock season. I prefer to sit in the mornings and still hunt during the rest of the day. No drives here as I hunt by myself or with one friend. There are not...

Poll: What do you use your muzzleloader for?

I use them for everything. I use a flintlock during the regular firearms season also.

    SOLD Ronald Scott Rifle

I meant to just suggest that it looked like a Chambers. Somehow when I added the quote to the message, it got messed up. My bad.

Would you happen to know what lock that is? It looks like a Chambers Dale Johnson Lock

Melchior Fordney Rifle Display coming up

I have wondered how to replicate his checkering. I don't think that wrist checkering could be replicated using today's checkering tools. I have heard of some people making their own tool using a hacksaw blade. What barrel are you using for your build? I have a .58 Rice J Henry barrel that I was...

Mike is spot on. There is nothing in New York that you can't kill with a .56 smoothbore. The 20 gauge rules are only for buck shot not patched round ball.

Thank You. It is a .54 caliber. The barrel came from Bobby Hoyt using original 18 century wrought iron.

How do i get this redish

I typically use Kibler's Iron Nitrate or Whakon Bay Aqua Fortis and sometimes add a coat of Laurel Mountain Forge Lancaster Maple on top to get the reddish hue.
