    CLOSED WTB Original Springfield Rifle-Musket

I'm looking for an original Springfield rifle musket in 58 caliber to use as a skirmish gun with the N-SSA. I have a Pedersoli 1861 right now, but it leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion and I prefer originals. Please let me know if you have one that you're looking to sell.

Is Graf's branded powder the same as Schuetzen?

Graf's branded powder says it's imported by Schuetzen, but is it exactly the same powder just with a different label? They're selling it for about a dollar cheaper than Schuetzen branded powder. As far as I can tell they're identical.

Muzzleloading shops and ranges in Huntsville, AL?

My wife and I are moving to Huntsville, AL soon and I was curious if there are any shops there that sell muzzleloading supplies? I've always had to order online and it would be kinda nice to buy stuff in person for a change. Also, does anyone have any black powder friendly ranges or clubs in...

Cool Slow Motion Smith Carbine Shooting

I wanted to share this cool slow motion video my buddy took of me shooting my original Smith Carbine. I thought it was interesting that you can see a smoke trail from the bullet going down range. I also never get tired of hearing lead hit steel.

Finding the proper size Smith Carbine bullet?

I recently picked up a very nice original Smith Carbine with a bore that looks almost new (it wasn't relined). The problem is, I haven't been able to work up a charge that shoots well with my gun and bullet combo. I'm using Eras Gone bullets as cast at about .518" from pure soft lead and the...

CLOSED WTB Smith Carbine for N-SSA Competition

Hello. I'm new to the N-SSA and am looking for a Smith carbine to use in competition shooting. Either original or reproduction as long as it's in shootable condition, but originals are preferred. I'll also consider other CW carbines as long as they are N-SSA approved. Thanks

How many shots before a frizzen needs to be replaced?

How many shots can a flint lock take before the frizzen needs to be replaced or rehardened? I've never fired one enough for it to be a problem, but I've probably put 2k rounds through my Kibler SMR and am curious how long it will realistically last. My lock still functions flawlessly and sparks...

It finally happened with my 1851

For a while now I've read that bolt/trigger springs on the Italian cap and ball revolvers were "consumables" and break fairly often. Some claims I've read even say theirs break every couple hundred shots. I thought this was all BS, but after roughly 2.5k rounds through my Uberti the bolt spring...

    New from Dallas

Hello all from the concrete jungle that is Dallas, TX. I've been muzzleloading for a few years and shoot muzzleloaders almost exclusively. I'm a younger guy in this hobby and don't really know anyone else that shares my hobby so I'm happy to joint the online community of muzzleloaders. Here are...
