    .45 Caliber: Deer?

I had no idea that the Bucks in Ohio were 300 lbs. Best not post that too much. Lots of out of State Hunters will help you collect lots of ground burger. Now here where i live in Mo. most of our Doe's field dress about 105-120 lbs. Bucks tend to run 40-60 lbs heavier. Of course every now and...

    .32 VS .36

I have owned both many years ago. I sold both, got myself a .40 cal it did all i needed for my needs. Sometimes i am hunting and a deer comes into my killing range my .40 is legal. While the .32 nor .36 were. I have hunted many a morning for tree rats & a deer was the first game that eased up to me.

    Kibler side effect?

I am also a south paw, i have been around many years. I fully understand Mr. Kibler's position. He has more funds tied up in his equipment than he could ever break even trying to build rifles for LH people. It's not that he would not do it, but he would lose money. Who can afford to take that...

    Accuracy standard

Group size standard is much bigger than most will admit to. With open sights i doubt i can do better than 6" at hundred yards. I cannot see a 3" orange dot at a hundred yards !

A little walk with Miss Elizabeth

Be looking good, i used to kill many of the black fox tree rats up in the Delta National Forest

    Flintlock flinching

I am a south paw, i don't see the flash at all. I have & shoot 2 RH flintlocks. That's the way it should be built. RH people need the lock on the left side & no see flash cause that eye is closed.

    time machine

If i could have been born in 1750 in NC, instead of 1950. Then yup it would suit me fine. To know what i know & some how took a trip back. Not to good ya know. I am already busted up & totally disabled. That would be the pits

2024 cap update, bad and the bad

Personally i rather go another route than buy tools to make caps.

2024 cap update, bad and the bad

I have an 1860 New Army myself. I have not found #10 Rem. caps for it in 4 years. I have 70 caps left in my only tin. So it collects dust, yes i want to shoot it.

2024 cap update, bad and the bad

It seems this will be an on going problem for those who don't have access to the caps. Prices have doubled & this year maybe tripled. I have off set the pressure & stress of this by getting 2 Flintlocks. Stocking up on flints is what i am doing
  19. S

    Why .40 cal?

Using my 1:48 twist prb i use 45-55 gr 3f black powder. Using my 1:24 conical shooter i use 50-65 gr black powder. It's mostly about getting good accuracy. I would not hesitate to shoot a deer 50 yds & under with 45 gr

    Thoughts on Percussion Caps

Been awhile since i posted on this. After being into 11 Maulmart stores in 2 States, i did manage to get 2,000 #11 caps. I am giving my youngest son my T/C .45 Hawken & 700 caps in July.
