Welcome from Clarion! Been hunting flintlocks ever since PA authorized them. Still learning. If you get a chance, check out the “Cabin Fever Challenge.” There are muzzleloader and rimfire divisions. Could be a fun distraction for the rifle team, too!

My Kibler Colonial Rifle is completed

Wow! Beautiful! I've never done any carving but am considering something like what you've done. What "level" of wood did you order with your kit, Fancy Maple or Extra Fancy?

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Preparing accuracy loads. I have patch material at: .010, .015, .018, and .020 to go with my .490 round ball in my .50 cal. Starting with 50 grains of powder and working my way up. Gotta have the right load to shoot the Cabin Fever Challenge!

PA flintlock late season flintlock hunters

Monday morning I sent $11.97 to the Game Commission so I could spend a day in the woods with one of our boys (in the foreground) hunting whitetails on the last day of the season. We had fun, saw deer, all safely out of range. Did our son spend hours at the range shooting in the gun he was using...

Hello all! We've been deer hunting in W. PA with flintlock kit guns since the late 70s. I'm a very practical hunter with a deep appreciation for the full-scale traditional side of the sport, but really don't have the time or budget to explore the more traditional approach. I wear the same...
