    Lack of younger shooters?

Probably lack of exposure, more modern things to do with your phone, lack of interest in history? Do a search and see if you can find a rendezvous in the coming months in your area, these are often family events and you will find young people there growing up in the culture.

    Newly Interested In Flintlock Rifles

Looks like I will have to reply and see if we can get some comments going :) I'm on the west coast and don't go to many rendezvous so I can't really say what is the most popular caliber. I have a .40 and .50, both nice for trail walks but some trails are setup for squirrel guns and some for...

    Question on flintlocks

So what is the issue shooting a RH rifle right handed when you are left eye dominant? When I was a kid I shot with right handed with my left eye and when I was older I switched to my right eye but when I did those little tests to see which eye was dominant I tended to the left eye. Currently I...

    Tower Flintlock Pistol

I have one, bought it new as a kit and it was my first BP gun, still have it. However mine is a full round barrel. The timing in your lock is wrong as previously mentioned., mine at half cock would be at about 11 o'clock, i.e. left of vertical. Mine is supposed to be .69 caliber but mics out...

    Uberti Quality?

My first Uberti was a new Remington and I was very happy with the quality. My second was a new 1860 Colt and it looked good but the fit of parts was junk and I had to send it back. The replacement was very nice but the pin on the hammer that operates the cylinder bolt timing wore out quickly...

    1861 Uberti

I bought an Uberti Colt 1860 from Dixie. Could not get the barrel off at all, lots of cylinder end play, sent it back. The replacement was good, no issues. Some time later, not sure how many rounds but certainly not heavy use the bolt would slip off the hammer prematurely and I was unable to...

    Captain Kirk collects BP pistols

I did see the cock fall but no flash at the pan. Watching other TV shows with flintlocks I see characters shoot with the frizzen forward, you would think they would at least try to make it look real LOL.

    Captain Kirk collects BP pistols

Actually Spock gets shot in that clip. Near the end McCoy gets a flesh would in the arm so he can't fight, that way Shatner gets full attention during the fight scene :)

    Captain Kirk collects BP pistols

The Klingons were trying to secretly advance the village people technology by supplying them with flintlocks. The villagers then became aggressive towards the peaceful hill people. Reluctantly Kirk believes that a balance of power is the only solution and arms the hill people with flintlocks...

    Setting the Flint position

I don't really know what to say other than you put the in whatever way makes them work the best. Some like bevel up, others down. It depends on the lock geometry and length of the flint.

    Lead from diving weights?

I have some diving weights. I assume they are not pure lead, they clink/ring when I knock them together. Anyone know what kind of alloy they might be?

    Need some help.

I don't know about most accurate but my guess would be the Ruger is the best made.
