    WANTED Brazier

I ordered a double brazier from Apple Cart Creations. It is well made and a lodge griddle fits on it very well. https://www.applecartcreations.com/collections/ironware

    Anyone know what this is?

Thank you all for your reply. I noticed I put this in the wrong forum and I apologize for that. I don't know how to move it to the Flintlock forum. It is a very interesting gun for sure. As you can see in the picture the barrel is very long. The guy holding it is 5'-10" tall. I messaged him to...

    Anyone know what this is?

A friend of mine has this flintlock that belonged to his father-in-law and he has no idea what it is. It is about 6' long and from what I can see it says "made in Belgum" on the barrel. I have never seen a lock like this. Anyone have any ideas of what it is? I have not physically seen the gun...

My Kibler Colonial Rifle is completed

Thank you everyone for all the support! I had a great time building this rifle and I look forward to shooting it. There is so much knowledge that flows in this forum. It is a big part of why I was able to complete this rifle and have it turn out as well as it did. I learned a lot throughout the...

My Kibler Colonial Rifle is completed

Thanks! It is a 50 caliber. All my buddies and family that shoot blackpowder have 50s so it seemed like the thing to get. I would like to get involved in some of the shoots so I am sure as I gain experience I will learn what is best for that.

My Kibler Colonial Rifle is completed

Thanks! I have never carved before either. This is what my skills allowed me to do. When you start thinking about taking sharp tools to your stock it is a little frightening. There is a lot to learn when it comes to relief carving. This was my biggest delay in building my gun. I wood is the...

My Kibler Colonial Rifle is completed

Thanks! I did order the Fancy grade of wood I believe. It was the first upgrade. I like the look of it. If I had more experience with the iron nitrate and maple I probably could have brought the curl out a little more.

My Kibler Colonial Rifle is completed

Thank you Notchy Bob, I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Taking photos of such a long gun isn't the easiest thing.

My Kibler Colonial Rifle is completed

I final got everything put together today. I am very happy with the way everything turned out. It was my first build so I did make some mistakes but it guess it just makes it mine. Anyway, I thought I would post some pics of it finished. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement along the way...

My Kibler Colonial is coming along...

Thanks for the support everyone! I got the barrel and lock blued today, I will add pics tomorrow. Everything is just waiting on the coats of tried and true to dry so I can get it assembled. I am already thinking of the next one.

My Kibler Colonial is coming along...

I used a checkering repair tool to created the line. It took a few passes to get it as deep as I wanted. After a few passes I tipped it to one side then the other on the next pass to widen it a bit. There is probably a better way but I was working with what I had and my lack of real experience...

My Kibler Colonial is coming along...

I hope it comes soon! It has been a lot of fun and a learning process all the way. Every time I started a new task I was always worried of screwing it up. Putting a chisel to the wood was tough. I never done it before so I did a ton of practice. Some worked out and some didn't but in the end I...

My Kibler Colonial is coming along...

My Kibler Colonial Rifle is coming albeit at a much slower pace than I wanted. This is my first rifle so between going slow and learning, and life getting in the way, and wishing I knew how to carve, progress has been slow. I have learned so much in the process. I used the Kibler iron nitrate on...

    Turning boards into artwork

Wow! These are amazing. I have often had the thought of doing something like this but I don't think I could have done anything close to your skill level. The patina on the brass mortar looks very authentic. Nice work, as has been said you are truly an artist.
