    Kibler vs. TVM.

I have a Kibler SMR and I have a TVM Southern rifle. I think with the advance in technology that Mr. Kiblers guns for the price are remarkable. This is just my opinion, but with the locks and stocks that are CNC machined you can't get a better fit. I have built a TOTW SMR and I can tell you...

Is That Seasoning or Fouling On My Patch?

Learned several years ago that the major manufacturing process of Black Powder they use Graphite in the process, it's hard to clean. Clean the best you can, it won't be spotless and then use Ballistol or some other oil base lube to seal, put it away till the next shoot. p.s. Watched a video...

    A Couple Interesting Flintlocks

Beautiful museum and town. So many guns and not enough time. All parts of the museum were fascinating to me. I spent a lot of time looking at the display of Hawken rifles and guns of the cowboy, or Western era. Any American history, and or, firearms fanatic should visit there. I want to go...

    Your first muzzleloader?

I was about 20 years old when, "Jeremiah Johnson," came out. Fell in love with the movie, mostly about the scenery and lifestyle of wilderness living. Got my first muzzle loader shortly thereafter, a T/C .50 cal. Hawken. Sure wasn't as many fine builders or quality smokepoles out there in...

    40 caliber gobbler

Very nice bird and rifle, thanks for the story. There's nothing like being in the woods and calling up a tom, if that doesn't give you a thrill every time, you had better give up hunting. On another issue, it's important that all hunters and gun lovers keep the IDIOT'S out of office and away...

    barrel

Could be relaxing and settling in, or perhaps your barrel likes a tighter fitting patch and ball. Might try just for comparison a .358 ball with a .15 or .10 patch and see if she shoots any different. .350 + .18 = .368 .358 + .10 = .368 .358 + .15 = .373

    .58 Armi 1861 Springfield

When I did War Between The States reenacting, I had and still have my .577 Euroarms 53 Enfield repo. Those big minie's are heavy and not going that fast with 60-65 grs. of black 2f., the information that Jim supplied is about right. Big lead ball not going fast drops a bunch. No we didn't use...

Amen Col., As a matter of fact, I have a TOTW S.Mtn. rifle kit that I have been working on for about 2 years, so I know what you mean. I'm learning as I go, no big mistakes as yet, but I'm real slow. Friend of mine bought a finished Tenn. rifle off the TOTW website from a custom builder. When...

    Rust prevention...

Ballistol and black powder go together as a cleaning solution or lube. There are many other lubes and cleaners out there to choose from also great ideas here about sealing under a pinned barrel. I ordered 2 qts. of Ballistol from Midway, it serves me well on my BP guns. As far as stink, my...
