I would say uberti is still a better gun. I’ve no experience in this but allegedly there are slightly better barrel/cylinder and action tolerances, even with the arbor issue, and usually a nicer finish. Piettas are fine, not having to tune the arbor is intrinsically very nice, and the gap... -

It’s easy enough to tell if something is hand forged—I should add that most mass produced “antiquated” weapons like this are still hand forged, just using modern techniques and tools, as opposed to being produced via machines on a production line like a gerber knife, for example. Like I said at the end there, they did just that with the Colt Cowboy—in my opinion a superior SAA with better lockwork and a functional safety, and priced competitively with Uberti. It sold like mud in a bucket. -

I’m going to be frank, I see little point in paying thrice the price for the same internals, metal quality, and rifling as a true blue spaghetti six gun, just on account it say sam colt on it. You can slap my ass in Hartford, but that doesn’t make me a colt— and as far as I’m concerned the... -

Not to mention significantly safer, as I’m fairly certain one of the main causes of chain fires is the spilling of powder along the sides of the cylinder which (Imo) can gouge flash channels into the lead when you seat the bullet. I’m absolutely a cartridge person, no doubt!
