    Naming your guns?

Most hunter-gatherer cultures have believed that all objects have a spirit. Food objects specifically. ( that would include plants) “The greatest peril of life lies in the fact that human food consists entirely of souls. All the creatures that we to kill and eat, all those that we have to...

    Naming your guns?

Thank you all for playing. Sometimes one needs to have fun with things. However, some of you sound like dour Calvinists - but hell - even 1700 Calvinists named their guns. Bet some here only call their dog "dog," their horse "horse." As the joker said to batman = Why so serious?

    Naming your guns?

Any of you guys name your flintlock like they did in the past ? If so what? If not why not? In the middle of building my first and even using a kit it seems to be ", coming alive"

    Hunting equipment carried

I have it a lot of thought. Grew up back east hunting with shotguns: bird, small game, deer slugs. Doubt if I could focus 200 yards as old as I am now.

Question on barrel lugs and pin setting

Like I said above folks, I have contacted Kiblers for simplicity and clarity. If it's wrong he will address it if I measured wrong he will address that. Too many opinions conflicting here

Question on barrel lugs and pin setting

I need to pull the stuff out of the box but yes they are shorter than that. And good quality ruler measures start at 1/32

Question on barrel lugs and pin setting

I contacted kiblers with this question. May need a replacement barrel. We will see. The lugs are already fitted to the barrel thanks

Question on barrel lugs and pin setting

I started fitting my Kibler colonial today, and though I am far from pinning the barrel, I noticed the lugs are short, like 1/6th in. How do I measure to tap these lugs when the time comes. I have Kibler's drill bit attachment, but these lugs seem short. And catching them seems daunting.

    Kibler Colonial kit arrived today.

Well packed. Speedy delivery from order date. Beautiful piece of mid level maple with figure I would expect on the higher quality maple. I will only have weekends to work and buying tools as I need. This will take a while. I have a carving plan worked out and pretty much good idea for...

Jim Kibler got it to me quickly

Bob, No offense meant, It struck me as an odd comment, but hey, this has turned into a fun and interestingly weird conversation. I have been researching a great deal about colonial finishes. I found some information that the makers 200 years ago finished with a shellac sealer and a varnish...
