    Need advice breaking clays

Hi Jason, I have been breaking clays (skeet) with a Beretta 12ga O/U (cylinder chokes) using 1 oz. of 3F, split a 3/8" thick over-powder card (or 3 over-shot cards), 1oz. #9's and 1 over-shot card for quite some time. Station #8 does create a 'target cloud of smoke' but the target is closer and...

How many of you shoot a 12 gauge?

12 ga. for waterfowl hunting and skeet. 10 gauge for sandhill cranes and swans.

    Bullet trap/backstop

I made a rectangular wooden box with the short side big enough for securing a semi-truck mud flap over the opening. The inside of the box is filled with shredded rubber mulch.

    Thoughts on Eatable CWD Deer??

How many people have harvested deer and never had them tested for CWD. I'm sure they enjoyed their venison and never worried or even thought about it. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend not consuming venison from infected deer. Michigan State University Extension highly...

    Hunting Question

I have been Black Powder waterfowl hunting for over 40 years. Prior to that I used modern firearms, so I have all the decoys (some purchased, some handmade). I started shooting lead and switched to bismuth (now shoot ITX) shot. Yes it is expensive, but I would be willing to bet that the cost...

    Squirrel hunters

I carry the Primacare PCP-69 First Aid Instant Cold Pack (6"x9") to cool both rabbits and squirrels. They are light weight and when needed work great. One time use and dispose in trash. A pack of 24 costs about $20.00. I'm sure there are other brands which will work just the same.

    Flying with a Muzzleloader

I traveled from Cleveland, OH to Katy, TX with 2 muzzle loaders. I used an aluminum hard case with piano hinges, dual case locks, and a TSA lock. When I checked in at the airline counter I informed them I had a muzzle loader. We were escorted to another area to have the guns and case...

    bugs

I use Permethrin on my clothes. You can buy the spray at "China-Mart" and follow the instructions. I used that on my clothes (shirts, pants, socks) when I was in Kenya there were no issues with bugs of any kind. It kills the bugs on contact. It will last on the clothes for 5-6 washings before...

    Converting from perc. to flint?

I read an article that had a percussion nipple install in the modified frizzen. To switch between flint and caplock the frizzen was replaced as well as the cock. Primer was placed in the pan and the cap would ignite the priming powder. It also had pictures but right now I can't remember where...

    Picture of Doughnut Hole Developing

I guess the word “disintegrate” was not a good choice. I probably should have said “break-up”. As for myself I use hornets’ nest instead of the cushion wad. Not much to find after pulling the trigger, but I like my results.
