Why not use some Liquid Fire drain cleaner?
In ALL seriousness, I would stick to bore cleaners and elbow grease.
I've used scotch Brite pads / 000 steel wool and valve lapping compound on badly neglected smoothbores with good results.

I've owned this knife for nearly 25 years , and haven't thrown it more than a dozen or so times.
It's one of Beaver Bills large throwers.

Blade length 9 7/8"
1 1/2" at the widest point of blade.
3/16" thick spine for most of the length.
THICK leather scales attached with iron rivets...
Don't want to separate.
Lee Magnum melter. Old and salty but works flawlessly. There's probably ten pounds of lead in the pot.
Lee 2 gang mould. .490" round ball.
Used, but entirely serviceable.

I use , and believe in Ballistol.
MANY times, I've cleaned/ dried a rifles bore to shoot.
And had a touch of very light rust on the patch.( Not rough, flakey rust, but discoloration).
It has NEVER affected accuracy, for better or worse.
