    Sharps failures. Suggestions?

How many wings on the caps? 6 wings good! 4 wings manure reenactor caps.

Need advise on possible restoration project.

From previous experience, I would take off the grips and disassemble the grip end as much as possible. Throw the whole mess in a basin of Kroil. Let it soak. Take everything out once a week and run a brass brush thru the barrel and use a dental pick around the nipples and the seated balls. Do...

    Kibler Fowler

Go back to being excited. A Fowler is just that. It was made for shot but also would shoot buck n ball or a round ball and probably anything else you could ram down there. They appear to be preferred by those requiring an arm for militia duty but wanted to have something that could also put meat...

    What CVA rifle is this?

You got nothing to lose. Plug the hole where the drum was. Put a couple ounces of Kroil down the barrel and let it sit for a couple of weeks. Work it with an easy out. Might need a touch of heat and continued soakings with Kroil. It will eventually loosen up and come out if you are patient. Once...

    smoothbore help

NO sight modifications are allowed for smoothbore competition. I have found the front bands sometimes have a poor fit and can be twisted a little and shimmed with cardboard to make things better. Otherwise, bending the barrel is your only other option.

    Minie Ball Tests In Smoothbores

Look up "Nessler Ball", I don't believe they were much of a success. Buck and ball seemed to be the troops favorite!

    The 11Th Commandment

Question about shooting round ball in smooth bore

Watched a guy at a Regional blow the entire "X" ring out of a target with the same type of gun at 25!!!!!!!!!!! He only needed 5 shots to turn it in for score but he fired 10, the extra 5 voided the target but I was impressed that the man was so confident in his ability, arm and load that he had...

Question about shooting round ball in smooth bore

Go to the N-SSA forum and find a tread call "smoothbore theory", I believe it is over 100 pages of mind numbing smoothbore speculation that come up with a surprising amount of things that really do work! Patches are NOT allowed in N-SSA competition and you would be amazed at the groups these...

    Wad punch / drill

I bought a 45&50 wad punch from Buffalo Arms many years ago. I use them on my drill press and am very happy with my purchase.

    Question on N-SSA rules

Whitacre barrels are on the approved replacement list meaning you do not need a "sac" card if you replace your barrel with one. Word of caution, make sure the flash hole is drilled before you try firing it.

    WHAT HAVE I LEARNED

I believe that is a joke. The hollow points look to be the end result of a series of dry balls or other loading fails. My interpretation but I could be wrong.

    WANTED Enfield saber bayonet

I got one from Regimental Quartermaster in Gettysburg a number of years ago. It's the most authentic one I've ever found. Originally had bought an India one, absolute garbage. Might make a good tomato steak though.

    Cylinder Throating

Contact Hahn Machine Works. He has done them for me in the past. Slug your barrel if you have not already done so. The cylinder needs to be reamed a couple thousands OVER groove diameter. Sure makes a big difference in grouping!
