    BOD Rifle by TRS

Pretty sure they used Colrain barrels from PA. up until now. Not sure who they are using currently. Ram rod swivel is a neat feature used on horseback. Yes some of originals are missing the swivel some still have them. The rifle in the Museum of the American revolution does retain its swivel...

Are you talking about a pattern 76 rifle? If so I have one I built from a TRS kit. They are very nice handling rifles. Took a bear this past fall with mine.

    How many shots?

Tipp Welcome to the love affair with flintlocks. As stated above a well tuned lock (a main spring not too strong and frizzen spring just enough to provide friction to get good sparks) flint adjusted to throw sparks into the pan and you should be able to get 40 or more shots on average with just...

    WANTED Kibler Woodsrunner .54

    What is your price range?
  10. Penske

    Simple question…..

As most have stated cover your lock, but also constantly every few minutes change prime in pan. Wipe out pan and replace prime is the key to hunting in the rain to ensure ignition every time during hunting.

The old .45 Flinter did it again

Isn't it wonderful how we keep our loved ones alive with such small acts. They are right beside us nodding with approval or providing some sign that only we can understand when it happens. Great story and great hunt, cherish your friend as you continue to hunt with the flinter. Regards, Peter

Use the GR and Arrow for your time period the BO mark is from the 19th century stands for board of ordnance. What weapon would you be making the horn for? Would go with a British 76 rifle or a Ferguson. Could also be used for Light infantry loading running ball.

Paper cartridges in a rifled gun?

Ferguson rifles shoot bare ball with no patch, British m76 rifles were used with both patched ball (linen patch) or rolled cartridges using a paper patch. Yes the linen patch was more accurate, rolled cartridge quicker to load. Rolled cartridges were used in times of front line combat. Patched...

Heading to the woods with my dad's big bore Mountain Rifle tomorrow.

Fat, I know what your going through. But sounds like your dad will be with you on this hunt as you use the rifle he built. Remember he is walking with you as if he was right beside you. If you listen closely you can probably hear him call the shot when the buck you didn't know was there steps...
