    How old are ya?

82, love how these old threads get rejuvenated. Can’t say the the same for aging. We are on a cruise, Bermuda, the walking is killing me, otherwise enjoying it. 😜

    HOW RURAL IS RURAL?

My oldest lives on a city lot in a small New England City, population 55k or so. But his back yard backs up to a designated green area and across the street an unused Mobile Oil tank farm, because deer and turkeys thrive in these settings deer and turkeys are frequent visitors. He finally gave...

    Skychief Load Time line

Not a chemist but “oils” in general don’t evaporate, but they will chemically combine with oxygen and lose viscosity over time.

    HOW RURAL IS RURAL?

POV. Raised on a farm, subsistence farm, left and joined the Navy. Married bought a house, 50x100 lot in a city. 53 years now. Reached a point now thinking about getting lawn service. Would not have it any other way.

It’s also a Blue State that’s becoming more and more anti 2nd. Unfortunately.

Officially it was Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. Government struck the Platation bit a couple years ago.

    My first .36 revolver

I assembled these for my three sons as Christmas presents two years ago. The cost was well north of $250 for each. The Pietta 1851, from EMF was more than that. This past Christmas I added the Tylor’s conversion cylinder in 38 Long Colt, along with 50 rounds of hand loaded cartridges. You got...

    RWS CAPS-1075 PLUS

I purchased 7K of them a few years back when the shortage was starting. I lucked into a K of Remingtons, old stock from an estate, and have a supply of CCIs, I still find the 1075s reliable on all my colts and Remingtons and use them regularly.

1873 Cattleman Cap and Ball Revolvers

Well that’s a novelty, I too own and shoot just about every model of percussion revolver made today, and several of them have conversion cylinders including one 1851 Navy , which I’ve gone to great lengths to load and shoot the 38Long Colt cartridge in. I also have the cattleman in dual...

    Smith Carbine rat shot cartridge

They work well indeed. There is a YouTube video on how to repair the Flashhole when it eventually erodes to too large a diameter, or to prevent that. A 1/8” pop rivet is fitted to the hole.

    Smith Carbine rat shot cartridge

He mentioned covering the flash hole with paper. I too use 2F in mine but wonder if better accuracy and performance could be had with 3f, more velocity perhaps.

The Words We Use and How They Define Us

Growing up on the farm in the 40’s the boys Sunday job was to select the chicken or chickens. Pullets or older hens, for Sunday dinner. Remove the heads, dip the bird in boiling water and pluck. It wasn’t the most pleasant of chores.

Pyrodex RS (FF equivalent) in a revolver

It’s my understanding that black powder fouling has no corrosive elements. The corrosion is moisture attracted by blacks fouling soot as it is hygroscopic in nature. I’ve left revolvers for days into a week with no problem, the soot was heavily mixed with lubricants. Rust occurs after cleaning...

    Let’s see some patterns

Beat me to it. Walt53, glad you cleared that up. For 20 odd years wife and I wintered in Southwest Florida. It wasn’t uncommon to see flocks of Robins, a hundred or more birds, pecking along the road way in my suburban area.

The Words We Use and How They Define Us

If I could find a chuck roast for $2 a pound, I’d stock my freezer and have Sunday Pot Roast for the next 52 Sundays😁

    PayPal anti gun?

I doubt a collection agency could collect what amounts to a fine against a private citizen without a court intervention of some sort. I could be wrong of course, I frequently am, just ask my bride of 60 years!!😁

    Cutting large chunks of lead

There is a You Tube Video called Acorn to Arabella. Massachusetts man building a large wood sail boat. In a few episodes he’s casting a 22 ton keel. He and his volunteers cut very large chunks of lead using chain saws. Chain saws, even the electric or battery operated are very efficient for this.

Look at bottom of your reply. Once posted. Three little dots lower left select edit. Erase everything then select save. Leave everyone saying “ what the hey was that”. 😁

Gunners Mate Drinkwater reporting aboard, Sir.

Welcome from Rhode Islamd MM3 here. Only a few miles from the piers that my destroyer was tied to. 60 to 64.

    Cutting large chunks of lead

No dust. The sawn chips are as big as the gullet of the saw blade. With a chain saw the curls of lead are easily raked up and retrieved.
