    I need some help here....

A .36 cal. Colt Navy(?), brass framed, round barrel. It's in a very nice presentation box with a powder flask and a bullet mold. Mold has cavities for a round ball and a "bullet" with one lubrication groove. It has never been fired. It was distributed by Westerner's Arms. We don't know who...

Need a little info - 1861 Colt Navy?

I bought this as a kit back in the early 1980's. It has "Made in Italy" stamped on the underside of the barrel but other than that, I have no idea who actually made it. It's pretty rough. It looks like they tried to roll some sort of ship/ocean scene on the cylinder...they didn't do a real great...

.50 caliber Hawken sighting problems, mine, not the rifle.

I realize this is almost heresy but my crappy old eyes, even with glasses, are really failing me. Is there a peep sight, tang or wrist mounted, that I can use on my Pedersoli Hawken 50? I understand it would lessen the value of the rifle but my sole interest is in shooting it, not sitting around...

    Houston, we have a problem...

Finally got out to the range yesterday. Fired a few rounds. My biggest problem now is the fouling caused by using real black powder. After the third shot, if I don't swab the barrel, it takes a feat of strength to get the patched ball down the barrel. I am shooting 75 gr. of FFFG Schuetzen black...

    Need help, what is it?

My wife inherited this from her father. It originally came from the Altoona, Pennsylvania area. It's missing parts obviously, but any help identifying it would be appreciated. We have no back story for it other than her father said it had been in the family for generations.

    Paper or metal

After fighting tooth and nail (still) with the 1858 Remington, at least I finally got to shoot it. Nothing to write home about. 20 gr FFFG (Hodgdon P) at 16 paces, wrist rest, no smacked knuckles though. The feal fun was when I shot at steel targets. I love that clang when it hits and I can't...

Information please - Armsport US Springfield 1861

A good friend of my wife has come into possession of this reproduction rifle. It's 58 caliber black powder. Made by Armsport (Italy). It has an "S 1500" stamped on it. Serial number? US Sprinfield 1861. It sure looks like a reproduction of something that could have been used during the Civil...

    Knuckle buster

I took my 1858 Remington "Preacher" to the range today. The trigger guard is so close to the butt of the revolver, the rear of the trigger guard smacked the knuckle of my middle finger, right hand. It doesn't feel too swift. The revolver is made by Pietta for Cimarron of Texas. Short of selling...

1/4-28 thread #11 Nipple for Pedersoli Hawken

I have checked locally, I have checked online Cabela's, online Sportsman's warehouse, MidwayUSA, Midsouth shooters supply and no one offers them, all they offer are metric. When did the United States go metric? Needless to say, that is a bit disconcerting. I have musket nipples and musket...

    Question - Cimarron BP revolver

I saw a Cimarron 45 cal. black powder revolver with a .45 [unmentionable (.45 LC)] interchangeable cylinder. Very interesting handgun. Has anyone had any experience with this gun? It really got my attention and interest. The best of both worlds. .45 cal cap and ball and a pretty decent...

This was my first and only "build/assemble/whatever" - CVA .45 cal. Kentucky

My son was kind enough to take a picture of it and send it to me yesterday. He knows better than to bring it with him in a couple weeks, I'll steal it from him. It is a CVA .45 cal. Kentucky rifle. I believe another gentleman on the forum is building one from a kit he recently discovered. Mine...

    Set Triggers

I have a Pedersoli .50 cal. Traditional Hawken Target rifle (Pedersoli's description) that I purchased about a month ago. Once I have used the rear "set" trigger, the front trigger become incredibly sensitive. A slight breeze, at least it seems like it, will fire the rifle. I like the idea of...

    I'm back to black powder

We live in Meridian, Idaho. Just purchased a Pedersoli .50 cal. Hawken, had it to the range a few times. I love that roar, the smoke, and the solid recoil, it makes all the pent up frustrations disappear. The Hawken shoots MUCH better than I do. I am amazed at the grouping I get at 75 yards...
